Vehicle Detail

In November of 2011, I bought two tickets for the annual car raffle put on by the International Motor Racing Research Center (IMRRC) at Watkins Glen. The prize was a restored and modernized 1967 Ford Mustang Bullitt replica. I was lucky enough to win this wonderful vehicle which I have enjoyed over the last nearly three years. In selling this vehicle now, I will try to give an accurate description of its condition and list the modifications and upgrades that were included in its restoration. Information about the 2011 raffle can still be accessed in the IMRRC newsletter at www.racingarchives.org/newsletters/vol13_1.pdf as can third party references to the raffle at oldcarraffle.com/1967-bullitt-mustang/ and www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/2725654/replies?c=27 A Youtube video of the car, uploaded for the raffle is at ► 3:28www.youtube.com/watch?v=SR-rTyQfwWA As you can see, the car is a Bullitt not only in appearance but also in performance. Engine details include a totally rebuilt 390 with a Holley Street Avenger carb, Edelbrock aluminum manifold and aluminum heads (Performer RPM), high performance cam (supposedly a Crane cam but I've not had it out), roller rockers/lifters, tubular exhaust headers, Ford XS Torque Starter, Griffin radiator, Edelbrock High Performance FE water pump, dual electric fans with thermostat control, Mallory distributor and coil, MSD wires, and Ford Racing valve covers. The transmission is a Tremec 5 speed (supposedly a TR-3550) with a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch (again I've not had it out) and a lightened flywheel. In the chassis department there is now a Heidts Superide Independent front and rear suspension, QA1 coil over shocks, Heidts front crossmember with tubular upper and lower control arms and subframe connectors, Flaming River power steering, 9 inch Ford rear end with positraction and 4 wheel disc brakes with inboard mounted rear discs. The wheels are American Racing Torque Thrust D with Falken ZE512 tires. I have replaced two of the tires and two more new and never used ZE512s come with the car. The interior features a tilt steering wheel, Classic Instruments instrument panel with custom Bullitt faces, newish carpet, mats, aftermarket center console, reupholstered and rebolstered front and rear seats, and a Retrosound RC-900C AM/FM/Aux input stereo with Sony 3 way speakers. The stereo I put in for a more classic appearance. The front seats I also had redone to correct some scratches. Since I photographed the interior, I've switched back to original Ford retractable seat belts. The exterior features rocker panel moldings, tinted glass (in near new condition), hood turn signals, Shelby style mirrors (which I replaced to upgrade the chrome), Bullitt insignia and excellent (Bullitt Green) paint. Other things I've done include front end alignment, new battery and cables and hardware, replaced gas cap to improve the chrome, new arm rests, new window regulator, replaced spare, replaced package tray, replaced headlights and hardware and aligned and replaced several pieces of weatherstrip. I removed the instrument cluster and sent it back to Classic Instruments to have the tach recalibrated and the instrument windows cleaned. When I had the front seats out for reupholstering, I took up the carpet and inspected the floors and they were in excellent shape. Before I put the carpet back, I put down a layer of underlayment. The car has always been garaged (at least since I've had it) and comes with a cover and original Ford service manual. The mileage given is after the rebuild. The one thing the car needs and doesn't have is emergency brakes. It is my understanding that when the Heidts rear suspension and brake package was installed they didn't have an option for emergency brake hookup but they do now and it can be added by the next owner if they so desire. Other things that are less than perfect include needing a new boot for the clutch slave cylinder (which I have but haven't got around to switching and will go with the car) and some surface rust on the road side of the crossmember under the radiator - nothing structural and only seen crawling under the car. The insides of the doors have some wear to the paint from getting in and out. I have bought and sold several cars on eBay and never had a problem but then again none of the cars were as nice (or as expensive) as this Mustang. The last car I sold the fellow brought cash which would be fine here except I would insist we meet at my bank. If the buyer here wants to pay with a check I would obviously have to wait until my bank says the check has cleared (which I understand can take over a week) before turning over the car and keys and title.
