Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is a very nice 1966 Mustang Fastback. This car started life out as a 6 cylinder with a 3 speed manual transmission. When the car was restored in the early 1990’s, a 289 replaced the original 6 cylinder. It is originally a Candy Apple Red car with Palomino interior both colors which the car adorns today. Odometer reads 3,330 but title shows exceeds limits, safe to assume 103k. Exterior: The car has got the look as you can tell from the pictures. It is a head turner wherever it goes. The paint was done in the early 90’s and it shows regular wear for 24 years of age. There are a few paint chips in various places on the car that have been touched up. The largest blemish is pictured which is located on the passenger fender. The body is nice and straight for being done so long ago, one particular area that is less straight than others is the tops of both front fenders probably from people leaning over them throughout the years. The car has had quarters put on it during the restoration. There is absolutely no bubbling or evidence of this repair on the exterior, but you can feel the seam from inside the trunk on the very top of the quarter edge. Whoever did this work did a very neat and thorough job. The bumpers are in nice shape, they are not perfect, as is the grill and other stainless. Both vent windows show minor pitting as pictured. All of the fits are very straight and flush. The glass is in good shape as well. Interior: The original Palomino interior presents itself very well. The seats are in good shape, they are not ripped or cut up, and they have a nice cushion to them. The rear seat folds down nicely and the carpet in the whole car is in good shape. The dash pad is nice as are the gauges. Someone replaced the original radio with an AM/FM cassette player, which plays fine. The headliner and visors are near mint. The worst piece in the interior is pictured, the driver side rear kick panel has begun to fray. Running and Driving: The car had been sitting for many years so when I bought the car I had the front brakes redone. I spent about $200.00 on brake hardware and the car stops like it should. The motor runs great and is very gutsy. It starts up easy even when cold and it idles nice and smooth. The car doesn’t leak any oil and it doesn’t smoke. The car goes down the road very nice. If I were to keep the car I would consider a front-end alignment, the car tends to wander when going over a dip in the road such as an overpass. The wheels on the car are driver quality and the tires are brand new as of last week. Overall the car is a great driver and has tons of eyeballs. If you are looking for a restored show piece, this probably isn’t the car for you. It is a car you can take anywhere and wouldn’t be mad if you got caught in the rain. This would be a great car to enjoy and spruce up at your leisure. The car has a very good body for anyone who would consider taking it to the next level. Car is priced considering its condition and quality. I would encourage any serious bidder to take a look at the car in person or send a friend to take a peak! If you have any questions please email or call Jack at 330-502-8598. On Sep-23-14 at 15:27:21 PDT, seller added the following information: BIDDERS: As the car is approaching the reserve, I would really appreciate if all serious parties would call me prior to bidding. I would like to avoid the hassle of re-listing the mustang due to unresponsive bidders. I don't want to waste any of your time or mine! Thanks and good luck bidding!!
