1972 LOTUS EUROPA TWINCAM The Lotus owners gathering is this weekend, have something to talk about. Buy this car!!! This is a no reserve auction some one will get this car no super low starting price and high reserve Why not you????? If you have been looking for a Lotus Europa that is pretty much the way it left the factory this is the car for you. This car is pretty much all original. The mileage is 40,457 All the body trim and badges are there and original The dashboard and all the gages are original. YES all the gages are in working order. All the switches are original and working. The power windows work. The trunk and boot locks are original and work perfectly The front and rear prop rods to hold the deck up are there, as are the clips that hold them in place. The steering wheel is original, the horn button is checked(see photos) The motor is in excellent working order, oil pressure is about 45 pounds at idle. The car has the original air filter system. The little round air filter is NEW. Sourced from RD Enterprises. The rear brake pads are new, as are the correct new spring set that holds them in place. ( Sourced from RD Enterprises) and yes they appear to be the original drums in excellent shape The factory alloy wheels are there, all 5 of them, not so for the center cap if they were ever there. Original, TOOL KIT and JACK are there, see photos, a little evaporust is in order. The door panels are original and in excellent shape. The seats are original, the passenger seat is just about perfect, the drivers side has 2 small tears see photos Original shift knob, seat belts, center console arm rest (even the little piece of foam that is under it, is there), ashtray (yes it is still there), headliner in excellent shape, The lights work, the brights work,the directional signals work, the hazard lights work. There is a AM-FM cassette in the car it is probably not original but it works, the radio I don't have any cassettes so I don't know about that. Sun visors, they're tiny and fairly useless but original and in great shape. Both gas tanks and gas caps are there and in good shape. The original little skinny hard plastic gas lies are there. As previously mentioned most of the car sports 42 year old Lotus paint. from a distance or in regular photos the paint look OK. Up close, not so much it has cracks and flakes down to the primer in several places, zoom on the photos so you are not surprised when you see it. On the plus side, on a nice day , on a twisty road it does not matter. YOU CAN DRIVE THIS CAR HOME. Special buy it now offer. The front brakes seem to drag more than I like, this is fairly common with older Girling brakes (my Elan plus2 did the same thing) this should be addressed by anyone bidding on this Europa. I have new rotors, new pistons(the deluxe coated ones) caliper rebuild kits and the stainless steel brake line kits new in the box from Dave Bean, cost over $400.00 Yours FREE to the person that uses BUY IT NOW. Here are the things that I know are not original Battery....new last year Battery hold down.. new last year Tires or Tyres, fronts are 185/70/13 rears are 205/60/13 there is plenty of tread on all the tires. I do not know how old they are, there is NO rot, cracking, etc. You are probably aware that 13 inch tires are harder and harder to find. these tire sizes are not stock but the car has a nice stance with them. The radiator was re-cored last year. The boosters for the brakes are gone. The front of the car was re-sprayed with a heavy hand. There appears to be a small repair on the front hood you should see it if you look at the photo of the lid when it is open. There are runs in the paint on the front fenders, on the side, gravity is not a friend to over spray, see the photos. The repair is well done the paint was just to heavy. I tried to add a picture of it but I couldn't. If anyone would like me to email them a picture just ask me to. There is some surface rust in spots, on the frame but nothing that would affect the structural integrity of the frame. The brakes require more foot pressure than you might be used to with a modern day power assisted system. It is one of those things that you get used to fairly quickly. While it does require more effort, I think the low weight of the car makes it not overwhelming. If there is a medical condition that would not comfortably allow the increased foot pressure, that should be your deciding factor.
