Vehicle Detail
Very nice driver with absolutely no rust, including the battery area. Car starts easily, runs strong, shifts and drives beautifully. Tool kit and original owner’s manual are included. Exterior re-painted in original color, no dents or damage; door jambs, etc., are original as they are in good condition; new emblems on hood and engine cover. Has a clean CarFax and Auto Check. Original engine and transmission. Power train was out in April. Engine was checked and is leak free (see photos). Transmission has new synchronizers, new clutch and new shifter bushings. The previous owner professionally lowered the car and had it subsequently front and rear aligned. In the 4 years we have owned it we have been slowly updating some things like aluminum door handles, aluminum door sill plates, and fiberglass door pockets to replace the warped cardboard factory pieces. Steering wheel was replaced with Momo wheel with J West engineering offset adapter. In the last 2 years:The AGM battery was replaced with an 800 cold cranking AGM battery; The brakes were rebuilt; New Dunlap Direzza Sport Z1 tires; Brand new alternator; New Bosche windshield wipers. The seats were replaced with aftermarket seats with bolsters as the originals need new leather bottoms. Original seats, steering wheel and shifter knob will be going with the car. The only original parts that are not included are the original wheels as they are long gone. All gauges on the dashboard work with the exception of the odometer, which stopped counting 4 months ago, but as this car is only used on weekends, there were less than 200 miles put on since that time. We reluctantly decided to sell our Porsche Targa, but a long-time fellow PCA member has finally decided to sell us one of the cars in his collection, an early 911 that we always admired. Here is the things-left-to-do list: The rubber trim needs to be replaced. The A/C has been upgraded to R134A but the original R12 lines should be upgraded to R134A as the refrigerant tends to leak out. The targa top is in good condition, the seals do not leak but as they are 30 years old, they are not in perfect condition. Most of the remaining work to be done is fine tuning, i.e. original stereo works but doesn’t sound too good, getting leather seat bottoms for the original seats recovered if you want to, we didn’t want to. Cruise control needs new cable. TERMS OF SALE: $1,000 non-refundable deposit though PayPal within 24 hours of auction close. Final payment and pickup to be made within 7 days of auction close.
