Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 I am “giving away” a numbers matching 1980 L82, 350 C.I., with 350 Turbo Hydro automatic transmission. I have over $20,000 invested in the car and parts; and many hours of my own hard work and sweat……or “therapy” as some would say. I call it “character building”. It was appraised at $15,500 a few years ago for insurance purposes. I just simply do not have the time or desire to finish it; and I could use the garage space. While it does have the original engine block, everything else on and in the motor was new 12,000 miles ago. All reciprocating parts were balanced. The transmission was completely rebuilt at the same time. Non-stock parts in the engine are the cam and roller tip rocker arms. The cam is only slightly over stock, as I wanted my wife to be able to drive it to work if she wanted; and she did. A 140 MPH speedometer was installed during the rebuild, and was set to “0”. It now shows 12338. The car had approximately 110,000 miles on it at the time of the rebuild. Some of the suspension has been rebuilt using urethane bushings, and the rest of the bushings go with the car. This was originally a smog car, and all parts to put it back are included (exhaust manifolds and complete exhaust system, smog pump, etc). The successful buyer also gets all extra parts I have purchased and not yet installed, plus 3 of the original wheels. The A/C has been converted to the new stuff. While it was an accepted medical practice at one time, I am not going to try to blow smoke up your rectum. This car still needs some work to be super nice; but the hardest part is done. The interior is pretty good; but not great. It shows some fading; but is not torn up, or worn out. The paint is ok. It was painted not too long before I bought it (13 years ago), but it wasn’t a quality job. It looks pretty good when clean, and from 10 feet away. This car would be a really decent, and fun, daily driver without having to do much at all. I realize that 12,000 miles is not an extreme test; but it has been very dependable. I would not be afraid to head for California in it. That said, due to the number of extra parts which go with the car, the buyer should plan on bringing a trailer to haul the car and parts home. Feel free to call me at 217-222-2490 to ask questions or to set up an appointment to see the car. If I don’t answer, leave a message and I will get back with you ASAP. The successful buyer should plan to put a $500 deposit on the car within 3 days of the close of the auction. The remainder can be paid by cashiers check or (preferably) cash at time of pickup.
