Vehicle Detail

Hi You are bidding on a survivor 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback. This is a real A code factory 4 speed car from the San Jose, CA production plant (the same plant Carroll Shelby pulled his famous GT350s from). I bought this car in 1999 and have enjoyed it very sparingly over the years. The car had been stored in a garage from 1981 until I purchased it. The odometer reads 67000 miles + and it probably has been over once , but with the amount of time this car was stored you wonder. The car has some surface rust in places, and I put some patches in some areas, but it still is pretty solid......I did some mechanical and floor repairs when I got it, and had a custom dual exhaust made. I added the set of magnum 500 wheels,a new Edelbrock manifold and carb, and an original ford accessory steering wheel, but resisted the temptation to go further with the Shelby treatment. The car runs and drives, and has current registration. As far as the car's history, I was fortunate to have received the original owners manual with the car. . I found a phone number by calling information in the Monterrey CA area. I called and a woman answered, and asked for the gentleman owner. There was silence for a few seconds. As it turned out the owner was still living, but was 98 and in a nursing home. I was speaking to his daughter, and she fondly remembered the car. I remember thinking her father must have been a really cool guy, as he had bought this red 4 speed mustang fastback when he was in his 60's. His other car was a Porsche speedster....True story. How the car made it cross country is a mystery, but I suspect the driver might have been a serviceman, possibly stationed at the Groton CT sub base. I bought it from a teacher who had bought it from one of his students. At one point before he got it the engine was changed (to a slightly later 289) but it runs very good and still has its original 4 speed. There is evidence of a fender bender at some point, as the left front fender was replaced and the front inner panel has been straightened. Bottom line is this car is like you would have found on the street in about 1980. Not perfect but a survivor. So there you have it, I'm sure I missed something so feel free to contact me via ask a question or call me 9 to 8 EST at 860-627-5806. If you are in the Connecticut area, you can make an appointment to see the car. If you are serious this is the best way to see all the details of the car. Pictures are good, but they don't tell the whole story. Know the this is not a perfectly restored car, but it is at a drivable presentable stage where it could either be enjoyed as a driver with minor work, or restored. Honestly, I really like this car, so if my reserve isn't met, I'm OK with it. I own a farm that needs some improvements, and this is a way to get there. Those of you who have owned one of these know how special they are, and this one has a unique history. The car is for sale through other means so I reserve the right to end the auction early, or cancel it all together if i find other financing for my project. if you have no feedback history (less than 10) contact me first or your bid will be cancelled. international buyers also contact me first or your bid will be cancelled. If you are the lucky high bidder I require a Non refundable $1000 deposit through pay pal within 12 hours of the auction's end. The balance is due within 7 days. I will accept a cash in person, a bank check or wire transfer for the balance, but will not release the car until funds clear. CAR IS SOLD WITH CURRENT REGISTRATION AND CT BILL OF SALE. CONNECTICUT DOES NOT ISSUE TITLES FOR CARS 250 YEARS OR OLDER. Serious bidders only please. CAR RUNS GREAT BUT DOES HAVE SMALL OIL LEAK (MOST OLD CARS DO) 3 I CAN'T BELIEVE I HAVE TO SAY THIS, SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY PLEASE....IF YOU CAN'T BE AN ADULT AND HONOR YOUR BID DON'T BID. THANKS FOR ALL THE GREAT FEEDBACK. MOST OF YOU PEOPLE ARE GREAT. EBAY JUST NEES TO WEED OUT THE 12 YEAR OLDS THAT STEAL THEIR MOMMY"S COMPUTER..........THANK YOU On Sep-08-14 at 15:53:28 PDT, seller added the following information: Thank you for all the great comments. It is always interesting to hear from people who had one of these years ago. Underside pictures have now been posted. One of my projects this year was going to be finishing this car underneath (grinding the welds and painting the entire surface with por-15 or red oxide primer. I decided to list this car without doing this, as it is, as to hide nothing.... There are all kinds of tricks sellers use, but there are none here. Is this car perfect? No, But is a pretty honest car for being here for nearly 50 years....with the right equipment and history. On Sep-09-14 at 10:04:54 PDT, seller added the following information: Having trouble posting some questions so here are some more answers to questions received: 1) Door Tag Decoder information: BODY: 63A fastback 2+2, COLOR: J Rangoon Red (not poppy, my error) TRIM: 26 Black crinkle vinyl standard interior DATE: 08K October 8,1964 D.S.O. 72 San Jose CA AXLE 1 3.00:1 Conventional TRANSMISSION: 5 4 Speed Manual 2) The California plate on the car is period correct but is NOT the original plate for the car. It is included with the auction but I bought it separately sometime in the last 10years. I do not know it's history. 3) There is a spare for the car, but have it out as it really takes up the limited area of the trunk. I also have the original door sill plates that were removed to run some speaker wire. 4) The speakers in the car are not screwed down, and easily removed. When I bought the car there were some blown out Jensen 6X9s screwed into the rear panel that were discarded. 5) I can store the car for up to 3 weeks until the car can be picked up, as long as the car is paid in full/all funds cleared as per the requirements of the auction. Call or email me for any additional questions. Thank you
