This is a Corbin Sparrow, #59, with 7555 miles. This car is in very good condition and has been completely renovated. I bought this vehicle in June, 2008 in non-running condition. As with most used electric vehicles the previous owner described it as “running the last time it had good batteries”. He had broken a drive belt and after he got the vehicle home he forgot to disconnect the batteries (push down the Big Red Button). Fortunately, I had met Ron Anderson of Black Sheep Technologies at the Beach Battery Burnout, an electric vehicle event in Florida. I called Ron and asked him if he could replace the batteries and put the vehicle in good running order. Ron agreed to help me and I trailered the vehicle to his shop, which at that time was located in North Carolina. Not only did Ron replace the batteries, in that and subsequent visits he: 1. Installed a new fuse box 2. Replaced most of the cables 3. Installed a new main relay 4. Upgraded the controller with new components and an aluminum heat sink that he machined in his shop 5. Installed a battery pack (13 batteries). In addition to the Zivan charger, he added a battery balancing system complete with individual leads and a trickle charger. I’ve probably left out several items, but he essentially turned a factory beta model car into a functional driver. I can’t say enough about Ron and the help he provided to me (and other Sparrow owners over the years). On my end I also made some improvements: 1. Went to Myers Motors and Rick Clester helped me out by selling me a new windshield. The original windshields from the factory were not of the best quality and mine had started to delaminate. 2. Replaced the fan over the controller compartment with a larger version. This required removing the old fan casing which was severely restricting the air flow and cutting a slightly larger mount into the back deck 3. Inserted peizo beepers from Radio Shack into the turn signal wires. (I wanted to make sure that I knew when my turn signals were on.) 4. Bought a car cover from California Car Covers. (The car has been covered for the entire time I’ve owned it.) 5. Replaced the brake master cylinder. This car really stops well. 6. Replaced the brake pads. 7. Had the Zivan charger upgraded with a 156 volt chip 8. New tires 9. Installed an indoor/outdoor electric thermometer so that I can read the temperature on the surface of the controller heat sink Spare parts: 1. New drive belt 2. New electric window motors 3. 50 ft. heavy duty extension cord for charging offsite This car comes with a trailer. The tail lights work and it has a spare tire and a hydraulic jack. The next owner will be able get an orientation, drive the car, put it on the trailer, and take it home. With the current battery pack, I have been getting 23-25 miles on flat terrain with reasonable driving. This vehicle is registered and titled as a motorcycle. Condition: The car has the usual minor chips and dings that do not detract from the overall appearance. The plexiglass trunk windows are a little scratched and fogged. As with most Sparrows, the parking break is difficult to adjust. The front end of the car has slight rub marks where the previous owner let it rub against his trailer ramp. Again this has not detracted from the overall look of the vehicle. (See photos) Sold as is with no returns.
