Vehicle Detail

This motorcycle is pristine with 13,900 original miles & only 3 owners. Title, engine, frame, & I.D. plate numbers match. This motorcycle sat in a climate controlled environment most of it's life. This is truly a piece of classic artwork that is totally functioning & dependable. It starts, runs, & rides as beautifully as it looks. This engine was totally disassembled & being in as new shape was resealed with new gaskets. When the engine was disassembled the only thing needing to be returned to as new were valve guides replaced, 3 angle valve job, & the stock bores slightly honed & new rings gapped &fitted to the stock bores and pistons. The transmission was disassembled and found to be perfect so it was resealed with new gaskets. The splines were all inspected & found as new with no wear. They were then cleared & lubed with Teraco Star Plex Moly II. The condition of the splines was another testament to original mileage. The Earls fork & shock absorbers were rebuilt & replaced to be as new. The wheels were disassembled & new Timken bearings & seals were installed. The spokes were also trued at this time. The carburetors are also factory matching #'s 1-24-131 & 1-24-132. They were soaked in stainless heated ultra-sonic cleaner & then N.O.S. BMW carburetor kits were installed. The flanges on the carburetor were machined to be perfectly smooth so they seal perfectly to the head. The paint is 45 years old & very nice but not perfect. The tank was checked & found to have the original red sealer and was in perfect shape so it was flushed of any traces of old fuel. The original paint was stripped off & repainted as factory original with hand pin stripping by a painter who has been painting BMW motorcycles for 35 years. When finished the paint looked as it had just come from the factory. The drivetrain was then reinstalled on the frame. The factory head pipes were reused but new mufflers were installed. The wiring loom still looks new & all tune up parts were put in new as was a new gel cell battery & N.O.S coil. The only item that wasn't replaced or restored was the speedometer as the speedometer, odometer, & trip meter are still working perfectly. This is another area that shows the low mileage originality. The electrical system headlight, taillight, brake light, neutral safety light, charging light, & charging system sending out the correct 7.2 volts is working perfectly. A new coil was also installed as sometimes they go bad from just sitting. 200 miles were put on the motorcycle & then the carburetors were reset along with the timing & points. The bike is now running perfectly & starts on the 1st or 2nd kick. There are no oil leaks of any kind. This bike is ready to compete in any show or be ridden on as long a trip as you are up for. The bike has only been ridden a little over 700 miles since being restored. Only flaws, the seat has a 1/4" long tear on the R/H side but didn't want to mess with it as it is original & in beautiful condition. The other flaw is a very small v-bend in the side of the fender probably from a road pebble. This is pictured but most people can't see it even when you show it to them. Please ask any questions you may have before bidding & I will answer quickly. Thank you, Ron Radcliffe Have been a member since 2011 & up until a few weeks ago I had a 100% positive feedback rating. My son used my account to sell some racing wheels, & before he shipped them he found a crack in one of them. He returned all of the buyer's money immediately. The buyer was not happy & so issued a negative feedback. I have this bike listed on other sites so I reserve the right to pull the bike off the auction at any time.
