Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1964 ford fairlane 500 2 door hard top. Looks good and runs great.I decided to sell this car at the last minute so I'm going to have to add more pictures tomorrow.Sorry this is the only picture I had but its gives you some idea of the car. This car speaks for itself. It would make a great thunderbolt tribute,or use as an every day driver. This is an affordable classic car that is a very good investment. The value will only go up in the years ahead.I will add more info.and pictures later but I have to list it now to make the auction end at a decent hour.Bid with confidence.Thank you and good luck.Any questions call Danny at 812 493-2510.If you have 0 feed back call before bidding or your bid will be deleted. On Aug-25-14 at 18:08:04 PDT, seller added the following information: I took more pictures showing all angles of the car.I showed the trunk with the original trunk mat which needs replaced.cost aprox.$85.00 I raised the mat to show there is surface rust only,no holes.I believe the interior carpet is original, showing wear,Cost aprox. $200.00 The head liner looks nice, no holes.Original complete air conditioner, blows cool, but not ice cold.I'm sure it just needs charged. The tread on the all the tires look just like the one I have in the picture. There all good matching tires.I showed the only places on the car that had any bondo and it is obvious because I do amateur body work and it shows, also the paint doesn't match, but for a car that is 50 years old,It has a very good body and the whole car is in really good shape, including all the trim. There is a little clutch clatter sometimes when releasing the clutch petal out of first gear if you release it too slow.I'd say it could use a new clutch, but is very useable the way it is,doesn't slip. The car starts the instant you hit the key and runs smooth, and handles nice.It has plenty of power for a small V-8 .Gets compliments every time I take it out for a drive. I wouldn't be afraid to drive it anywhere. This car has been taken care of and it shows.Once again, you have my number, call if you have any questions,Thank you and good luck, Danny. On Aug-28-14 at 18:26:47 PDT, seller added the following information: This car has a lever underneath the dash that says overdrive.I pulled on it and I cant see any difference.I know someone that has a auto repair shop in town that is a transmission specialist.I will take the car to him tomorrow and let him take a look at it.I will post what I find out and if he fixes it or not.If you know anything about it,let me know.I'm 58 years old and have messed with old cars all my life but have never seen overdrive in a car with a manual transmission.I've seen them in automatics on the gear shift lever but then again this is my first 64 Fairlane. It may be common. On Aug-28-14 at 21:13:41 PDT, seller added the following information: The overdrive is now working. I found a site called FORDification.com and went under Borg-Warner Overdrive and it told me everything I didnt know about a borg warner overdrive transmission and what a great option it was.Anyway it said in most cases the fuse on the firewall gets corroded and doesn't allow the overdrive to work, and that was the problem.I cleaned the connections and it's working now.Isn't the internet great? And these old fords are so easy to work on,any back yard mechanic can keep them running. If it's got gas in it,a good battery and fire to the points these old fords will run. On Aug-30-14 at 11:24:49 PDT, seller added the following information: FYI This car books for $10,150.00-$11,672 and that is average retail.and my reserve is much lower than that. High retail is $17,480. This comes from NADA classic car values, and that is what my bank uses for loan value because it is an accurate average estimate of what the cars have actually sold for at different sales and auctions. You buy this car anywhere close to my reserve and you will have made a wise investment. The only reason I'm selling it is my place of employment has cut out the overtime, therefore I'm selling some of my toys to pay them off.The Harley in the picture is also for sale in another auction on ebay.Check these 64's out on youtube,They make sharp street rods.Keep bidding, your almost there.I want to thank everyone for their interest and good luck. Danny. On Aug-30-14 at 19:22:23 PDT, seller added the following information: Anyone is welcome to come by and inspect the car before bidding. My idea of a nice old classic might not be the same as yours.I have tried to show all angles of the car the best I could. No,this is not a show car but with a new paint job, carpet and trunk mat it would be real close but then again I'm not asking $20,000 for the car.I'm taking bids on it.What you see is what you get.I'll be here all day tomorrow.Since the car has made reserve,I can't let anyone drive it because the car doesn't belong to me now and I'm not going to take any chances.I'm sure if you are the high bidder you don't want anyone driving your car.Thank you, Danny.
