Vehicle Detail
This pickup is 48 model years old and is in remarkable condition. I purchased this vehicle from a private party in North Carolina and drove it across the country (very slowly). On that trip I discovered a number of issues that made the trip much longer than I had anticipated. Once I made it home I began the process of total mechanical restoration. The interior was very acceptable and I was able to live with the paint job. This original truck has NO power accessories. It is a radio-delete model and has the Jeep emblem where the radio would have been. No hole was drilled for the antenna. It does have a heater/defroster with a 3-speed fan that works. There are two vents (one on each side) that function properly. There are two ash trays (as was the normal for that period) with one functioning (original) cigarette lighter. Amps and oil pressure are idiot lights and they function properly with temperature and fuel being analog gages that also work. Directional signals work but the cancel function does not work for right turns (properly cancels for left turns). All glass is chip and crack free. Door gaskets have been replaced but window channel for both door windows needs replacing. Wing windows open and lock properly. Speedometer and odometer do not function (probably a cable but I've not replaced it yet). Here is what has been done mechanically - at considerable cost. Exhaust and Intake manifolds have been removed and re-surfaced, new gaskets and re-assembled. No vacuum leaks. Carburetor has been rebuilt. New GM alternator with internal voltage regulator. Belt, wires, ignition components are new. Battery is about 2 years old but is kept on a 12v maintenance charger. Valve cover gasket was replaced a week ago. New PCV Valve and vacuum hose. Transmission rebuilt (all new internal components) along with a new clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing (less than 1,000 miles), new brakes (shoes, wheel cylinders, drums, part of a brake line, complete fluid flush), new exhaust from manifold to chrome tip - all stainless, new U-Joints (less than 400 miles), driveline trued, new pinion gasket (less than 200 miles). Tires are probably 90%. This is a manual hub 4X4 system that works quietly and smooth. Hubs are Warn. In 1966/67, Kaiser-Jeep offered a farm option Flatbed. This is one of those trucks. The bed has been replaced but it's numbers correct. New manual steering box replaced 200 miles ago (90 days to find the part and $829 cost). Every effort has been taken to maintain this truck in it's original/stock condition. When driven regularly it starts immediately, no valve or engine noise and runs smooth without rattles or vibrations. It is cold-blooded during winter driving but that could be corrected with a manual choke. Serious medical issues prevent me from continuing this restoration - I just can't do the work necessary. Delivery/pick-up of this vehicle can be negotiated. I can deliver (on a flatbed car trailer) for costs or you can arrange private shipment.
