So I'm helping sell his coupe so that he can purchase a cabrio I sold him.......Standard options on this model include traction control, block heater, keyless entry, electric windows, and power locks. Optional accessories include air conditioning, premium wheels, and auto shift selector. Rear tires have about 50% tread. Front tires are nearly new. Winter tires on rims are available but sold separately. Mechanically, everything works on this car. There are no warning/check engine lights. This car is definitely more then capable of doing a cross country trip. Cosmetically, there are light scratches on the left side just above the air intake. I have provided a pic of this (below). The good news is this car has been vinyl "wrapped" most of its life and so a majority of the panels look the way it looked when brand new. Finally, I do drive the vehicle somewhat, so mileage may increase slightly during the auction. There are just a few things that make Smart cdi's unique and one of only about 100 or so here in the United States. It is powered by a Mercedes engineered turbo diesel that is well known for lasting hundreds of thousands of miles. This euro-spec version has been in production since 1998 and has been proven dependable. I can easily achieve 50 to 60 mpg and hits speeds of 75+ comfortably on the freeways. The transmission is a Tiptronic (no clutch manual or sometimes called "slap stick"). And finally, unlike the 2nd generation US models, it also has 6 speeds instead of the 5. Many questions always come up regarding servicing the car. An online manual is available from the website "Evilution". Ebay does not permit me to place the link in, but just Google it. There you will find a wonderful resource with helpful descriptions and pictures to help in performing repairs and maintenance. As for mechanics to do maintenance on the car; I always recommend contacting an independent mechanic specializing in European cars. Sometimes they employ mechanics fresh "off the boat" from Eastern Europe that have knowledge of these cars over there. Having disclosed that the car is a grey market car, please check your DMV to ensure it will title in your state. I have a clear Ohio title and will pass it on to the buyer. If you live in a state not listed, please check with your DMV or local title office to find out the procedures for titling gray market cars in your state. Be sure to mention it already has a clear Ohio title. If you happen to live in a state that does not allow for this car (like California for example), please contact me first before getting too discouraged. I have read online of certain ways to get this car possibly through. Also, if financing the car, ensure your lender will finance it without a "blue book" value or NADA.
