Vehicle Detail

1980 Camaro Z28, Brown with Gold stripes, Tan custom cloth Interior, 350 4spd, with many options. It is very original, is in running driving condition. I drive it regularly in the summer to take my son to local cruise ins. It needs some work to make it really nice, Its a rare, neat car that's worth restoring. History: One Family Car, with 85,750 original miles. 1st owner: from 1980 to 1987 was my Uncle Tom, who used it as his daily driven car. 2nd owner: from 1987 to 2007 was my Uncle John, who used it occasionally as his second/third car. 3rd owner: from 2007 to present has been me, using it occasionally for recreation as a third/fourth car. I was 15 in 1980, and was with my uncle at the dealership when he purchased this Z28. He purchased it from Holz Chevrolet in Hales Corners Wisconsin. Usually the Dealer who ordered the car would be shown on the build sheet, but I noticed the build sheet shows it being charged to, or delivered to Chevrolet Motor Division in Warren Michigan. My recollection is that it was an executive car in GM's PEP program. The car also has a recent oil change, and full tank of gas. My son and I took the tops off Friday night, and drove it to the local cruise in / car show. Mechanical Condition: Engine runs great, starts right up, has good power. Added a nice set of Corvette Aluminum valve covers. Leaks some oil from rear main seal. Transmission shifts well, some bearing noise in 3rd gear. It sometimes wants to grind going into reverse, so I just turn off engine before shifting to reverse. Rear end works well. Brakes work well. Battery is good-newer Alternator is good-newer Front Springs are good-newer Rear Springs are good-newer New U-joints last year. Radiator had small leak, used stop leak. Front Y pipe leaks, should be replaced, or converted to true duals. Mufflers and Rear tailpipes are newer and in good condition AC needs to be recharged, compressor is good and spins freely, (still blew cold a few years ago). Tires are Eagle ST's, look pretty good, still have tread left, drivers front has slow leak. Parking Brake is disconnected, does not work. Interior Condition: Lights, Signals and Horn all work properly Gauges all work (except clock) Speedometer needle bounces some. Intermittent Wipers work, new wiper motor last year. Power Windows work Power Locks do not work Radio works Power antenna does not work. Steering wheel is in great shape. Door Panels are in excellent condition. Arm rest / Door pulls are great. Front seats are showing wear. Rear Seats are very good. Rear panels of hard plastic are rough looking Carpet needs to be replaced. Headliner looks OK, but is loose Dashboard is faded, and has a few small cracks. Console is in good shape, with new storage compartment and lid. Body Condition: Still has Original Paint and Stripes! Paint still shines, but has stone chips, age checking, surface rust, touch ups, etc. I recall it was originally rust proofed by dealer / Rusty Jones Front bumper area is OK, has chips and nicks, one tear was repaired on driver side corner. Grilles are in great condition. Emblems are good condition. Front Air Dam is good, a few paint scuffs at bottom edge Front Fenders are solid, some chipping and surface rust at bottom edge. Doors are solid, some chipping and surface rust at bottom edge. Door Hinges Sag, need to be rebuilt or replaced Weather strip needs to be replaced. Glass T-tops are in nice shape. Window Glass is in good condition. Rear wheel air dams/flares are good, but have faded chipped paint. Drivers door jam has rust hole behind door in front of rear wheel Pass door jam is ok, but rust is starting to show in front of rear wheel Quarter Panels are very solid around wheel well lip, and behind rear tires. Trunk lid is solid, but has some rust on inside edge. Trunk is very clean, with original mat, space saver spare and T-top bags. Rear bumper and Tail lights are in nice condition. Rear valence under rear bumper has rust holes. Driver foot well has small rust hole Pass foot well has larger rust hole Needs new body mount bushings. ------------------- Build Details VIN Number: 1 P87 L A N 524557 Built in November of 1979 VIN Info Breakdown: 1 Chevrolet P87 Camaro 2 door L 5.7 L 350 4bbl V8 LM1 - Z28 only A 1980 Model Year N Plant Built at Norwood Ohio 524557 Six digit sequential serial number Body Tag Info Breakdown: 80 1980 model year 11 November A 1980 model year 1 Chevrolet F F body P87 Camaro N Norwood C059334 (?) 62C Tan Custom Cloth 67L Dark Brown Lower Paint 67U Dark Brown Upper Paint 55A Gold Stripes A51 Bucket Seats CC1 T-tops A31 Power Windows Z28 Z28 TA2 (?) 550672 (?) One question I've been asked is; Why I am selling. It was my intention to do a first class restoration on this Z28. I just do not have the time to tackle the project. My son and I have enjoyed it while I have owned it, and hope it goes to a good home. Regarding the question about needing new body mount bushings. I believe the rust on the pass side floor should be repaired first, then the body mount bushings replaced. Regarding showing / viewing the car; I am available to show the car, just contact me and we can arrange a day and time. Please note that this car is 34 years old. While it has been reliable for me, I typically use it driving locally within 30 miles of home. If you wish to purchase this car, I would recommend arranging to have the car shipped. I have re-listed due to a bidder, who after winning the previous auction, disappeared and did not respond to attempts to contact him.
