Vehicle Detail
1965 Mustang Fastback for sale. No Reserve. 200 V6 3 Speed manual transmission. Car is running and driving. I drive it around town on nice days. Previous owner told me that car was restored back in the 80's and he bought it back in the mid 80's and rarely drove it. Sat in his garage. It had 80,000+ miles on it when he got it and it still only has 87,000+. Do not know if these are original miles or not. 1986 inspection sticker is on the car and it has vintage PA plates. Plates can be transferred to new owner if they reside in PA. Though the car had been restored it was an amateur restoration. I bought this car because it's not a trailer queen. I could drive it and not worry if it got a ding or scratch. I've since acquired another project that requires that I sell this car. The car body looks good in the pictures but the person who did the restoration did not do a very good job with the body work. There is dirt in the paint. There is overspray in places. The body is wavy and has dents/dings from basically front to rear. The roof almost looks like somebody walked on it before it was painted. Body panels don't line up very nice. So please don't think you are getting a show quality car. You are not. I just couldn't get the body issues to show up in pictures. My plan was to have this as a driver and fix it as I go. I've owned a couple fastback basketcases over the years and felt this car had good bones to work with. There is some bubbling in the paint on the lower front corners of the doors and the back edge of the fenders where they meet the doors (see pictures). The left lower quarterpanel was poorly patched at some point. From inside the trunk you can see the overlapping metal (see pic). There has also been some other patchwork done on the inside on both rear wheelwells at the corners. There is a small hole in the left rear frame rail near where the front of the rear spring attaches (see pic). But the floors themselves and the rest of the frames seem solid to me. I've not had the car on a lift to get a really good look at it though. Previous owner told me car is not originally white. He thought it was some shade of green. Interior looks pretty nice. The backs of the front seats need replaced. There is a couple places that have black tape on the rear seat bottom. The car will come with another rear seat bottom. I bought a used one that had cutouts for seatbelts. My plan was to install seat belts so the kids could safely ride back there. Everything else looks in pretty good condition but not perfect by any means. The shifter plate needs installed but comes with the car. The radio powers on but doesn't pick up any stations. I never checked to see if the antenna was hooked up. The gas gauge does not work. The previous owner installed a new gas tank and fuel pump so maybe something didn't get hooked back up correctly. The door locks don't work. The drivers doors spring was removed so door doesn't stop when opened. The hinge for the trap door was removed and never reinstalled. Comes with car as well. Fold down rear seat works good. The defroster/heater duct hoses were taken off and not put back on so that will need done. The car should be gone over mechanically. Whoever buys car should go over all brake and fuel lines/master cylinder/brake cylinder/ etc. It has all worked fine for me but I was going to do that this winter since the car had been used so little over the years. There is something leaking from the engine or transmission as there is some oil on the undercarriage on the bottom side pass floor area. I haven't found anything major but didn't look too hard either as to what was causing it. It doesn't leave puddles or anything on the garage floor so it must be a slow leak but want to disclose everything I am aware of. One of the front bumper support brackets is broken and the car comes with a new one. Car will probably need new battery at some point. Car is being sold AS-IS. It is a driver. But the car is complete and running which was one of the reasons I bought it. Didn't have to go searching for a bunch of missing parts. Will need complete restoration to be show quality. I've disclosed all I know but other issues could exist. Please feel free to ask any questions. Shipping is buyers responsibility but I will work with you as needed. $500 deposit due within 48 hours of auction end. Thanks!
