Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my 1972 Chevy Camaro. This car has the split bumper front end, but I doubt it is a true Rally Sport car. Engine and transmission are not numbers matching. I now have two young kids and do not have the time or money to take this project any further. Almost all of the work I have had done while owning this car involved the drivetrain and suspension. I purchased this car in 2007 and had a rebuilt 1971 small block chevy 350 installed. The engine currently has just over 7,000 miles on it. I guarantee you've never seen a engine setup like this before. There is a B&M 144 blower with B&M EFI unit on it. This fuel injection kit is from the late 80's / early 90's and is basically just an electronically controlled carb. The battery was relocated to the driver side so a custom cold air intake could be installed. Short Moroso solid engine mounts were used to lower the engine enough to fit everything under the stock flat hood. There is also a complete MSD ignition system. I had the car dynoed at Chevy Carlisle in 2010 and the car made 296HP and 346Tq at the rear wheels (dyno sheet is included in the pictures). More engine specs are listed below. The transmission is a 4L80E out of a 1996 3/4 ton Chevy pickup and is controlled by a TCI tranny control unit. The car has all new suspension with lowering springs and leafs, Bilstein shocks (front & back) and Boss 338 wheels. I tried to take a bunch of good pictures to show the condition of the car. I view this as a project car and it is not in pristine condition. The paint is not original and is old / faded. This car was originally Pewter Silver Metallic (code 14) with black interior. The passenger side door has a corner missing and that side fender has a dent (see pictures). The trunk rods are weak and don't really hold the lid up. The rear spoiler needs to be sealed up better because when I wash it some water gets into the trunk. The trunk pan has a couple holes. The floor pans are pretty solid, but they were poorly patched by a previous owner. The car needs new body mounts installed - I have solid mounts that will go with the car. The front urethane nose is also in rough shape. I have a stock flat hood with an L88 scoop mounted on it that will go with this car as well. The interior is in pretty good shape. The headliner has a rip and has the typical 1970's curled dash pad. Door panels, top door trim and carpet have been replaced with new. The front seats are leather ones from a Pontiac GTP - they're much more comfortable than the stock ones and actually recline. There is a custom dash with all electronic Autometer gauges. A B&M ratchet shifter was installed for the modern tranny. A previous owner installed a bolt-in roll cage in the car. There is no radio. The cable for the side mirror is broke, but I have a brand new in the box OER side mirror to go with the car. The car runs, drives, stops, has a current inspection and a clear NY transferable registration (title). There is an oil leak on the passenger side of the engine - i think from the valve cover. Hopefully I'll get this fixed before the auction ends. There is some smoke coming out of the breather. The car runs pretty good, but I think it needs someone to dial in the tuning better than I can. The gas tank has been replaced with a sumped style tank and has all new braided AN fuel lines. This style Camaro is my dream car, but life happens. I've really enjoyed the car and now it's someone else's turn to hopefully finish it off. This car is located in Rochester, NY. I can probably deliver the car within a 100 mile radius of here for the cost of gas and tolls. I have tried to include as much information as I could so you know what you're getting. More specs are listed below. Feel free to contact me to see the car in person or ask additional questions. I will be more than happy to accommodate you.
