Vehicle Detail

On June 15, 1970 Land Rover introduced the beautiful, capable and rugged Range Rover and was immediately inundated with orders for this amazing truck. It was unstoppable off-road and went on to not only become a venerable off-road competitor in a vast arena of races, but became more refined and luxurious and was equally as good for a trip to the coffee shop. The 1995 model was the culmination of everything that Rover had learned over the 25 years it was being built. Its amenities were the most robust, it had become more refined, reliable and moreover it was better than ever off-road AND on-road. It also featured a one-year only interior, that drastically changed the cabin experience! Now here it is almost 44 years later, and the Range Rover Classic design is as charismatic and beautiful as it was on that day in 1970. This pretty, tough and capable Cairngorm Brown Rover carries all those Rover traits with it and more! Background: Let me begin with a little background. This Classic is painted in a BEAUTIFUL color package: Cairngorm Brown on Lightstone, which truly looks the part on the Classic. This truck was originally bought here in sunny Southern California and has spent its entire life here. It has been cared for mechanically and has led a well enjoyed life! The Condition and Service: This truck has been ENTHUSIASTICALLY and PROFESSIONALLY maintained and serviced and is a high standard for Rover service! Let's start on the engine and drivetrain: This engine has LOW MILES for the year (less than 9,000 a year), only 165,000 miles appear on the odometer and the entire truck shows the same care. There has been A TON of scheduled and preventive maintenance performed to this truck to keep in near brand new condition. The engine is very healthy and has loads of smooth power! -HEAD GASKETS As part of the preventive service schedule, this truck received brand new OEM head gaskets and OEM headbolts. The truck runs COOL as can be and the temp needle doesn't budge off its 9 o'clock mark! The heads were cleaned, pressure tested, decked and redone as part of the service and ready to go!! -LOWER ENGINE and BLOCK Go take a look at the underside pics. Recently resealed oil pan, no trail scars on the pan! All Rovers weep a little at the seams - this is about as clean as a Rover gets! -UPPER ENGINE While being serviced, the valve cover gaskets, valley pan gaskets and seals, valve stem seals and upper intake gaskets, all resealed among a few other minor seals. NONE of these were leaking, but were done in order to keep with the same high regard and care. The upper and lower intakes were thoroughly cleaned, injectors cleaned and reassembled. -OIL Fresh oil change and filter with the right 20/50W oil, ready for another 3,000 miles! -RADIATOR The radiator was flushed and cleaned in order to keep maximum flow and keep this beauty nice and cool. The temp needle NEVER moves past 9 o'clock even with the AC on and in traffic. -IGNITION BRAND NEW Champion coppers (the RIGHT plugs) and BRAND new wires. BRAND NEW distributor cap and rotor. -BATTERY NEW battery!! Cranks hard and fast everytime! -TRANSMISSION The trans was just given all new fluid and shifts great! -DIFFERENTIALS New gear oil in the diffs! -SWIVEL BALLS Fresh grease, serviced and shims -ENGINE BAY Check out the overall cleanliness of the engine bay! This is not a steam clean special. This is a labor of love. A consistent cleaning to keep things looking great. Lets move to the suspension and brakes: -BRAKES Newer OEM brake pads in the front and rear - loads of pad life! The truck brakes great. No ABS lights! -SHOCKS Old Man Emu Shocks! They are soft on bumps and tight in corners. The trucks handles wonderfully! -SPRINGS The Range Rover Classic air suspension system was still in its early days when this truck came out. While it got refined more in the next generation P38 and much more further refined in the following generations, at best on a Classic it is liability. It was replaced with the Old Man Emu conversion kit. Their kit is a highly respected way to go about replacing the system. The springs ride wonderfully and sacrifice near nothing in terms of ride quality over the airbags. On a P38, I argue for the air bags, but the Classic system just wasn't quite there in my humble opinion. Should you want to ever convert it back, lines, wiring and tanks, etc are still in place. -STEERING New rebuilt steering box! Steering is tight and feels great! -4WD SYSTEM 4WD Low and High both work great! Let's continue to the exterior: -PAINT The paint is nice and is a 7 out of 10. This truck was born into a very limited color palette in 1995. Only 3 colors were available from the factory for the SWB Classics: Beluga Black, Arctic White and Epsom Green. This truck was born Epsom Green, but its prior Rover enthusiast owner wanted to explore the huge beautiful color palette of the earlier Rover Classics here in the US. Cairngorm Brown Metallic was only available for a few years and is a quite striking brown. It is almost a root beer with silver flake. To further set the truck aside, while keeping an understated beauty and tastefulness, the roof was painted in Beluga Black to offset the brown. It really is quite a nice combo! CLEAN and CLEAR CarFax - this is not an accident repaint special, this was a color of Rover love. There is some minor orange peel typical of metallic repaints (though easily addressed if you were choose to with some light polishing and would further increase the shine!) There are few minor dings and flaws which are very hard to see in pics and in person, and a few flaws on the rear lower tailgate. Remember this is a near 20 year old truck, there may be some scratches, wear etc, but they are below any expectation level for Range Rovers or cars of this year/miles. -TIRES Trail and road ready BFG All-Terrain T/A's with lots of tread left! OEM spare in the trunk! -WHEELS The Tom Walkenshaw Racing (TWR) wheels are in great shape with no major flaws or curbing. These are OEM wheels and some of the most sought after and compliment the Classic's body lines the best. -BUMPERS and BUMPER CAPS The chrome front and rear bumpers are in nice shape with only minor flaws. They shine wonderfully and are free of any major defects. There is a small ding in the rear bumper. The bumper caps are in very nice shape with no major flaws (many Rovers find these missing!) -GRILL Rover Classic grills are known to crack in places...not this beauty! -REAR VIEW MIRRORS Take a look at the pics - the plastic on these mirrors are usually faded, or scraped... not here!! -UPPER TAIL GATE Check out the upper tail gate! Usually, you see these rusted, rotted an in terrible shape in anything but dry weather cars. And in the dry weather cars, they are faded and sun burnt. Not so here. This tail gate is in beautiful shape! -REAR FINISH PANELS Also known to fade are the rear Leatherette panels beside the tailgate. They are in great shape with no fading and shine with a deep luster! -DOOR HANDLES Nice door handle cradles! No broken handles! Like most Rovers, a door can require a little extra tug on the handle, which is why you see them break. -GLASS Not to let a pebble defeat this truck, the windshield is great shape! The door glass is wonderful shape! -TRAILER HITCH The Rover has a factory trailer hitch receiver and ready to tow. -UNDERCARRIAGE Nice undercarriage! No rot or trail scars. Very minor oxidation associated from stone chips etc on the axle housings and such. Nothing major at all check the pics!! Onto the cabin: -SEATS The Lightstone seats are freshly refinished in the front!!! These seats are known to crack and split at the seams. These BRAND NEW upholstered front seats are simply stunning and super comfortable. There is NO tears, NO split in half seams. They are incredibly supportive with what feels like zero foam wear. There is only some minor wear on the armrest. You sit high and comfortably in these buttery soft seats! Rear seats have minor flaws, but overall nice shape. -DOOR PANELS One of the BIG things with 1995 Classics is the speaker grills are missing or the map pockets are missing. Check the pictures and see what are there. Each have some minor wear on them, but near impossible to find is any without at least a few scratches of little cracks. These are in nice shape overall. They are so hard to find in decent shape, that even when you do find them, it usually requires a second mortgage on your house. You dont need to swallow that pill since yours are there!!! -HEADLINER The headliner is BRAND NEW. OEM Rover headliners tend to sag over time due to poor glue. Worry not with this brand new OEM color replacement! -CARPET Very nice carpet in the truck! Only minor flaws if you looked hard could possibly take away from being near factory fresh. T -SUNROOF Sunroof works great! It is quick and smooth. Most Rovers (IF they work) are slow and clunky. Not here. -RADIO/CD CHANGER BRAND NEW Pioneer radio/MP3/CD player is in great shape and sounds amazing! Comes with remote which is unused, still with the battery tape in place! -AC/HEAT AC is ice cold and heat is earth core hot! -CENTER REAR VIEW MIRROR Take a look at the pics. The self dimming ink has not popped and bled in the mirror like 95% of other Classics. A true rarity!!! -WOOD Nice wood on the console, doors and dash! Some chips and veneer cracks appear as typical in Rovers, although they present/shine nice. -STEERING WHEEL The leather is very nice, no tears or issues! Feel great in your hands! -CARGO AREA Rear carpet is nice, with only minor flaws at best. -MISCELLANEOUS This truck come with a very rare Land Rover Lodge invitation booklet to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the brand. The prior owner loved the brand and its lifestyle and truly embraced the adventure and spirit of the truck! The Experience Driving this Classic is fantastic. It has all the power it had from the factory an then some, and from even a little gas is torquey and responsive. I hope you can tell by my long ad that this truck is a great pre-owned and nice Range Rover. This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION! If you were to add up all of the recent items in this truck, you would find well over $7k in recent retail scheduled and preventive service and restoration alone. This truck is ready to go live another 165k miles of beautiful, reliable, enjoyed life in your hands. Don't buy an unserviced truck for a little less than spend multiple times as much to get it to this level of service! Feel free to ask me any questions at all. Residents around the country I am happy to be flexible for your arranged shipper so that you can get your new truck as soon as possible. My standard disclaimer/mantra for any car regardless of service or price: The truck is sold with no warranty. You are buying a used car. Eventually every car will break, if you find one that doesn't please let me know. I do my ABSOLUTE BEST to offer only cars that are of TOP NOTCH service. I am not a dealer, just a guy who loves Rovers (among other cars) and hope to pass along my passion and fervor for these trucks. That said if ever you encounter an issue I do my best to provide advice, direction or even parts if I have them. Please understand that it is a used car and will have minor signs of use. That means please do not expect a showroom brand new truck. Please adjust your expectation level to that of a 165,000 mile truck that however is above average for its year. This is low miles for Range Rovers of this year, but please just remember that no 165,000 mile truck is perfect. It is though a clean, nice truck! Please only bid if you intend to buy. If you would like to have an Ebay 3rd party mechanic service check out the truck I MORE than welcome it. Please have the truck checked out before bidding and not after if you intend to use that service. Please check your local laws and registration procedures before buying. Buying over the internet can be scary sometimes! I get it, because I am an enthusiast too. For that very reason I am more than happy to answer every and any question you may so you know 100% what you are buying. But, please ask any and all questions ahead of purchase! All sales are final, you are buying as-is, the sky is blue, etc, etc. Sorry to have to give the boring speech. Please feel free to ask any and all questions!! It's a Rover world, we are just living in it!
