For sale: Amazing survivor high desert dry Montana F150 XLT Lariat 4x4 pickup. This is a loaded (Lariat, tilt, cruise, factory mag wheels) one-owner older gentleman's truck that was purchased from the original owner by a younger couple last year and used as a daily driver till they tired of the less-than-stellar fuel economy and sold it to me. The original owner maintained the truck well and it shows. The truck is in great survivor condition with no rot or rust and still wears it's original dark green paint inside the racetrack chrome, the couple had a quickie respray done on the light green outer color as it was faded. Minor rust repair was done over the rear wheels, but nothing major. Here in the land of sagebrush and prickly pear cactus, we only see 10 inches of total moisture per year and no salt is used on the roads, so we don't see rust issues. This truck is ready to use as is and I'll do my best to describe it below. Exterior: Paint is in good condition and truck looks great from 10 feet. Partial repaint on lighter green color was a MAACO-style quickie but shines well and the casual observer won't find any flaws. Car show nit-pickers will find a few small runs and areas where prep was sup-bar with a couple of small dings missed and some sanding scratches. Inner dark green color is original and thin in a few spots. Ding in passenger side door and low at rear of driver side box. NO rot or serious rust, only minor surface rust under truck (see link below for pics). We don't see rust or rot issues in this arid country- there's just no moisture. I have owned many of these trucks, and I think this is one of the driest I have ever seen, owing to 40 years of meticulous care and proper storage. There was some superficial rust repair over the rear wheels and some filler was used, you can see sanding scratches and the contour of the wheel well isn't perfectly smooth- but you can tell from behind underneath that there was nothing serious. Underside of truck is super clean - floors, cab mounts, cab drop-offs, etc all look nice and dry - see link to more pics underneath. Some dents in wheelwells in box, and middle of box floor was not repainted under mat. It really is an honest rig, you can see that it's very straight and dry overall. Chrome in very good condition with no pitting. Grille surround is in fairly good shape with only a few dings. Grille and headlight bezels are new. Front bumper has a few scratches. Glass is all in good condition including windshield, which is new. Deluxe mag styled steel wheels are in good condition with no pitting. Still has original spare tire carrier under truck! Interior: All original and presentable. Seat has some tears at drivers outer edge. Driver door panel has tear around window crank. Headliner good. Dash has a few cracks on top. Original carpet is torn at driver door edge. Tilt steering wheel in good condition. Everything seems to work except cruise control. Aftermarket stereo was installed and works. Overall really nice shape for a truck of this age and no issues to drive and use. Mechanical: Starts, runs, drives out well, no major issues - 351M/400 engine runs smooth and pulls hard and trans shifts well. Not sure if it's the original motor, but oil pressure is good and no noises. No noticeable smoke or significant leaks - there is a minor oil leak at the fuel pump gasket, I might be able to fix that before the truck leaves. I tested the 4 x 4 and transfer case and everything seem to work fine. Truck doesn't heat at all. There is an minor exhaust leak that goes away when the truck warms up, exhaust is stock and quiet, if you put throaty exhaust on you probably wouldn't even hear it. Everything on the truck appears to work except cruise control from what I can tell. Tires are 33 x 9.50 and are not cracked, and have a season of tread left. I've put a couple hundred miles on and from what I can tell, the truck ready to use and enjoy. Pricing/Misc: I got a good deal on this rig and you will too. These trucks in good condition sell for double my reserve, which is under $6k for quick sale. Title is clear and signed off by the 2nd owner and ready to fill in your name as purchaser.
