Regretfully selling my 1970 Mercury Cougar XR-7 with a 351 4bbl with a FMX transmission. This car leaks NOTHING! Power steering and power Disc brakes in front and drums in rear. AC is hooked up but belt not installed. I have never tried to get system recharged so i dont know if it works properly or not. This is a very clean, straight XR-7 with not a lot of miles, 90.557.I bought this from the 2nd owner who was a young adult who babied this car to the best of his ability. Detailed receipts, history of car and old parts he kept after installing new parts. I have the factory intake and 2bbl carb that goes with the car along with all the information and spare parts the previous owner collected. He even kept a mileage record to how many miles per gallon he was getting while the car accumulated miles. Service records showing all the parts and work preformed professionally will go with car to assure you of work performed. I just had the steering ram replaced as well as the hoses on the power ram assist steering.Brakes are new and stops on a dime. All the headlights work and the headlight doors open and close. There is a vacuum leak out of the main pump but i have another to go with car. Head light doors do eventually open after a few days if car has not been turned on and ran for awhile to build back up pressure to keep closed. These are things i want to share about the car so no one is disappointed later. The body and paint work on the car is driver quality. The car had been restored by the original owner, a Ford Executive back in the 80's from what the previous owner shared. Basecoat/Clearcoat but has road dings and scratches. The car still has loads of shine left. Bumpers on the car still have loads of shine left but the rear bumper appears to have been straightened on the driver side. Previous owner had a brand new front center grill which is gorgeous installed to really make nose of car look impressive. This car is a California emissions car which makes this car special due to the STILL intact vapor filters in the trunk. This is the original gas tank on car to still have this equipment still there. So its the original sending unit as well i'm assuming. The inside of the car is gorgeous and has blue leather seats with a nice center console which is still intact. Even has working toggle switches for dome light and map lights that work. Also has the over head map light. This car also has the RIM blow steering wheel which still WORKS! Very cool option to still work after this long. The dash has minimal separation by the heating ducts for the defroster vents, very minimal, hardly noticeable. The rug has been replace and in doing so the factory build check off sheet was found still under the old rug and sound deadening material. That goes with the car as well.Wipers work, heater and blower motor work well, Dash, headlights and tail and turn signals all work like they should as well as the sequential tail lights. I will include another updated sequential brain with cars sale. Previous owner supplied with loads of parts included. Headliner was replaced, due to there was only the headliner rods up there. Rear window and front windows were pulled during installation of headliner and new vinyl top. New rear window seal was redone when interior shop installed top and headliner. They are tightly installed and look great. Rear inner sale panel trim is needing some attention. Could use a little work or proper trim attaching pieces would help. I do not have the attaching hardware but will stay in place with trim surround that goes around headliner. The tires no the car are older and they are factory steel wheels with the XR-7 correct hubcaps. The tires are all balanced and are not out of round. Car drives rather smooth and stays in lane while driving. No drifting or weirdness in the suspension. Replacement upper and lower control arms bushing look to appear new as well as new shocks and front sway bar bushings. The engine and trunk compartment have had work to appear factory correct with new decal kits and new trunk mat with proper tail light protectors.
