Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 1970 Mustang Mach 1 garage find project car. This is a true Mach 1 as indicated by the VIN. This is a very good Mach to restore as it is very complete and never butchered or hot rodded. As you can see from the pictures, this car, while a little rough around the edges, is exactly as it was born. It is as original as it gets with the factory slats, H code 351C matching engine, automatic transmission and all the factory AC components in place. The car is in the Houston TX area and has been here since the previous owner drove it down here in 1982 from Virginia. He parked the car in his garage around 1999 and has been there until just a few weeks ago. I have not touched the car so your looking at it as it was found with the exception of some roller wheels and tires. Two of the old tires wouldn't hold air. The original 14 inch by 7 inch steel wheels will come with the car. As you can see from one of the pictures the car originally came with the simulated deep dish magnum wheel covers. I have a complete set of factory 'kidney bean' styled steel wheels and trim rings that I can offer at an additional price if you are interested. I have not attempted to start the car but if I were a betting man I would bet that it would after a proper re-commissioning procedure. The car was originally the desirable Candy Apple red which you can see starting to show through on the roof, hood and other areas and was repainted yellow sometime way back when.. In fact, I bet a lot of the yellow would blow right off with a pressure wash. Take a look at all the pictures and take note that how straight the car is and the fact there is ZERO evidence of any collision. Overlooking the ugly, see that all the trim is ding free including the bumpers, valences etc. I just recently completed a Grabber blue 70 Mach1 and sold it here on eBay and while it was more rust free than this car, I probably spent 2-3K on miscellaneous stuff like headlight trim rings, slats, door and dash trim and other parts that were missing from the car. This car is missing nothing! Take it completely apart for restoration and most if not all of the trim items other than soft trim can be cleaned up and reused. The interior is complete but not in terrible condition. It needs a headliner and the passenger seat cover needs to be redone but the rest of it I believe could be restored and reused. The dash pad has the usual cracks and the bezels need restoration. The car came from the factory with some desirable options like AC, Power Steering and Power Disc brakes, automatic transmission, factory slats and spoilers. The AC is complete missing nothing and even has the belt still hooked up. It has all the original factory tags under the hood including the buck tag, ac tags, engine tags etc. It still has single exhaust. I haven't looked at it yet but I wouldn't be surprised if it weren't original. As far as the body goes it will need some rust repair. It will definitely need floor pans. It is a little crusty here and there as you can see in the pictures but pretty solid overall. Torque boxes and frame supports look pretty nice and solid- not all beat up from jacking. Wheel houses look solid and trunk is pretty solid with some corrosion in lower drops. This car with the good options and in Candy Apple Red is most definitely worth a complete restoration. I have decided that I don't have time to restore this car right now and have decided to put it up for sale. I may be listed in locally so I could end the auction early if someone is willing to make a reasonable offer. I have a reserve on it here which I think is very fair but please don't ask me to reveal what it is. Please look over all the pictures and read the description carefully before bidding. I am always open to questions as well and will respond in a timely fashion if you send your questions through eBay. There will be a $500 deposit required at the close of the auction and the balance will need to be taken care of with 72 hours of the end of the auction. As I mentioned earlier, the car does not run but does steer and roll freely and the brakes are not frozen. You will need to take this into consideration in estimated your shipping costs. Thank you for looking and good luck!
