Vehicle Detail

1979 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL TOWNCAR A CLASSIC AND BEAUTIFUL CAR TO DRIVE & OWN. SOLD “AS IS” 35 YEARS OLD…BUT READY TO SERVE LIKE THE MINUTEMEN…TESTED, TRIED AND TRUE! This wonderful car was purchased by my parents on September 21, 1979 in Torrance, California, at Bill Hopkins Lincoln Mercury…(The dealership is no longer there) I was 11 years old and remember the drive home in the new Family Transportation-Flagship! This beautiful Flagship has served my family well and never left anybody stranded on any road, never broke down and too this day, while being 35 years old and a bit weathered/worn, is still sitting at the ready like the Minutemen of yesterday, ready to drive and serve on a moment’s notice. Here is what I can tell of my families Transportation-Flagship… The 1979 Lincoln Continental Towncar. My Father, was a U.S. Navy WWII Aviation Veteran and became a Career Engineer after the war ended. He took care of his family and this car meticulously. That is why this car is in good mechanical working order to this day. My Mother, was a housewife, and her specialty was keeping things clean and polished…(Including my older brother, sister, and I). The Flagship was another family member…bathed on Saturday, driven to Church on Sundays, market and sporting events as needed, threw-out the many days and years, serving day and night rain or shine…always at the ready! The Family Flagship was mostly housed in a garage during its legacy of service, until after my parents passing away, Dad first and then Mother, recently within the last two years. Unfortunately, I no longer have the time nor resources to upkeep the Flagship. To hold on to it any longer would be its demise. I hope to pass on the legacy of this wonderful classic vehicle built back then…35 years ago! It’s a heavy solid vehicle and the doors are ok to slam hard!!!…you won’t break them, not much plastic on this vehicle! On a Funny note:…This Flagship is still making memories…my 2008 Ford Taurus, broke down last week, and I needed to go to Long Beach to get my 6 year old son to his eye doctor…So we jumped in the Lincoln Flagship and fired up the “boiler” and off we steamed to Long Beach…Fantastic drive, the old Flagship sailed down the freeway passing cars, trucks, and the like and got us there and back in a breeze… AND My son being 6 years old, asked where the cup holders are inside the Lincoln.? I said there are none?…He then said “Dad, who would build a car with no cup-holders!” I said, “We did not need them when I was a young boy like you, but then once they began to build cars with cup-holders inside them, people began to drink and drive…AND that caused a whole bunch of Moms, to band together and get MADD! He didn’t get it, of course…but we had a good laugh at our conversation… So I have researched this vehicle, type, age year and etc… and found some have sold for more and some for less, some in good condition some in poor condition. Some in almost new condition…I guess it comes down to ownership? This car is not perfect, is used but has a good heritage, if that matters any to anybody? It’s up to you? If I could, I would keep it… So I have taken pictures and describe as much as I can see to the eye. From 4 feet the car looks great. Drive it and its solid. Is It Perfect? NO! its 35 years old!
