Vehicle Detail

History: 1949 Plymouth special deluxe convertible ~ we are the second owners of the car and acquired it the in the early 1960's. It has the original engine and was rebuilt in the early 1960's. Car came from Long Beach, CA. Plymouth production plant. Level 3 restoration was performed in 1989 ~ car was taken down to a shell in restoration. Car was known for being reliable with a 87/95-hhp flathead six engine. The upper-level special deluxe series was nicely finished with quality materials but built in fairly low numbers ~ 84 left registered in the country. This car is part of the 1949 new box "second series" designed in the spring hence the 1950's grill in the front & front turn signals. Price in 1949 brand new was $1007-$2068. Car has included: turn signals, backup lights, window washers, clock, radio (works but needs a tube and gets 3 a.m. stations), hydraulic convertible top works. Original car jack, spare tire cover, Coker tires white walls, six volt battery system with a super six battery, original wood gear-shift knob Plymouth, original paint chips 1949 from DuPont, owners manual (reproduction) and a lot of extra chrome pieces, rocker (2) panels; along with extra back-up lights (in original mopar packaging), brake light covers, door handles, lighter (doesn't work) see above pictures. Convertible top is in OK condition (light beige). I will be adding to this list. Last year I had a lot of engine work done ~ new clutch etc. brakes (master..) etc. We saved everything from restoration Pictures: Trunk pictured with original tire cover ~ back seat you can see the convertible top is beige. 1 picture underneath the car. Passenger side wind wing was never rechromed has rust. Car has been maintained to run by a certified mechanic ~ some rust on the bottom of the car. This car was never our family main car only a play novelty to take out on the road occasionally and later years car shows.
