Vehicle Detail
If you're looking at this car then you know more about it than I do more than likely. It's a '56 Packard Caribbean convertible one of 276 built in '56. Has the 310hp 374" engine. It does run and drive. However, the choke rod that connects the chokes on the carbs is broke so it tends to load up a bit at idle. Brakes do work but have a leak so no you cannot drive it home! I'm selling what I believe to be an all original '56 Packard not a new Lexus! I say "what I believe to be" because it looks all original to me however I'm not a Packard expert so I don't need any internet gurus emailing me corrections. Buy it on the premise that nothing works. I haven't tried the top. It probably works but it would be my luck it would get stuck sticking straight up or something so I'm not gonna try it. Body appears fairly rust free. It's definitely a Southern car. Paint looks good from a distance but not so much up close. I'm open to ANY OFFER. ALL SERIOUS OFFERS WILL BE CONSIDERED. Feel free to have someone come inspect it. In fact, I encourage it. Still has the original seat cushions that are REVERSIBLE so you have brown basketweave cloth seats or you can unsnap them from the frames and have turquoise leather seats. I was going to rebuild the carbs and fix the brake leak (probably a wheel cylinder) to make it fully drivable but I've been told to leave it alone and sell it as all original so I'm gonna try that here once. Call 601-720 two eight 5 7 with questions. Will consider any trade as long as it involves $$$ to go along with the trade. NO MOTORCYCLES. EXTRA INFO FROM AN EBAY MEMBER: "A couple of things I have the original production information on your car. It was delivered at the Factory not a dealer to a Mr. Harris in May of 1956. It was equipped with Push Buttons so the lever is a conversion. Not uncommon as Push buttons were sometimes a problem. So far as the trunk goes it is a common problem. There is a die cast piece in the lock you are turning it has broken off. The only solution is carefully remove the cardboard behind the back seat and go in with a mile long group of extentions with a 3/8 or 7/16 socket memory fails me at the moment which size it is and remove the bolts from the hold down hasp.Be careful with the cardboard as it is fragile.Need more advice call xxx-xxx-xxxx (edited for privacy) I currently own four 56 Caribbeans. Regards Pete" p.s. - My reserve is very low compared to what it's worth. Look at the underneath pics. This is a solid car. seller added the following information:
