Vehicle Detail
1979 Honda CBX customized by my Uncle who owned this bike before I did. He was a Honda motorcycle mechanic at Honda House in Elmhurst, IL. For over 20 years. He died 4 years ago and this bike was left to me. You can call them and ask the service dept. to verify employment of my uncle (Thomas Sullivan). And you take that and my feedback profile and you will know I am telling you the truth. What he did to this bike I am sure of is this; **Rebuilt Engine from top to bottom- by a Trained and certified Honda Mechanic. Un-sure of the mileage on the frame. 5,500k on the rebuild which is reflected on the odometer. He had 15 personal bikes when he died. Not enough time in the day to ride that many bikes.**He and I always had it garage kept **Clean Title not salvaged. **I believe he jetted the bike.**the engine might have a few performance mods but i can not be sure it is scary fast and not for the beginner **Custom paint job is in excellent condition **Aftermarket Kerker Pipes in excellent condition. No dents or scratchs **Aftermarket K+N cone filters**Fork seals are not leaking**Chain is great**Front tire is near new**Brakes are near new**seat is in excellent condition**No rust in the gas tankOnce I took possession of the bike, there was a small carb leak that I had fixed. And the Head gasket is leaking and needs to be replaced. When I tried firing up last season, I discovered a short in the ignition wiring that keeps blowing the starter fuse. However; the bike ran great when parked at the end of 2012. No engine knocks or noise in any way. In fact when the wiring is fixed the bike should start right up with not issues.Needs**batteryshort in wiring fixed (pictured the fuse that is blowing, not sure where or why the short)back tire is cracked will hold air but will need replaced. Head Gasket eventuallyImperfections**Crack in the seat plastic on one side and on the top of the seat. both picturedOne post from the side plastic is missing. Pictured I stored the bike properly, full tank of gas treated with gas stabilizer stabil and I drained all the carbs for storage as well. Does not come with a battery. I am selling because I have a Honda Goldwing I commute in now. I do not have the time to work on this CBX like it needs. This bike was built with passion and love, I hope someone with the same kind of passion for Honda’s and bikes in general buys this beast and puts her back in action. I will say this, there is nothing like taking this bike up to speed, knowing a big six is between your legs, and those who own or have ridden one of these bikes knows what I am talking about. the few that have ridden this bike have come back scared do to the speed of the motorcycle. This is why i think it might be built up a bit. This is a local pick up. I live on the IL/IA boarder off of I74/I80/I88 corridor. Or I will assist in any shipping you need arranged. I will not pay for or arrange the shipping in any way. That is on you. this is an "as is" sale. no warranty offered or implied. I have done the best to show and describe the bike to the best of my knowledge. I will do my best to answer any questions you might have. 309-737-3332 On Jul-27-14 at 07:13:10 PDT, seller added the following information: Turn signals **the picture from the back of the bike show a little distortion and the right turn signal appears to be looking bent. This is not the case, the turn signals are in fantastic condition, with no scrapes, cracks, or breaks. the bike has not been laid down.On Jul-27-14 at 07:25:40 PDT, seller added the following information: Note to those who had interest in the previous listing. I never agreed to sell this outside of eBay. I had the bike listed in the wrong category so eBay deleted my listing with out warning, that is why it vanished last week with out notice and left no trace. I know many people had serious interest in the bike and i apologize. I now know bike MUST be posted in eBay motors, not on the regular eBay site. good news is i have re-listed with more pictures and better description, i apologize for the confusion.
