Vehicle Detail

1976 Porsche 912E Thanks for checking out my 1976 Porsche 912E, this is a great little Porsche, pretty much a Survivor type vehicle with one repaint done in the early 1990's. This car is in very nice shape for its age, for almost being 30 years old. I love the look of the 911 and 912 models. Just an awesome body style, which pretty much since 1965 on up, has always pretty much looked the same til around 1997, just a perfect body style in my book why mess with perfection. This car is very solid, amazing underneath, very solid floors, and solid body. This is my first 912E that I have owned one year only car, and it is really a great driving car, very tame, and very comfortable. These cars for someone who wants to get into the Porsche hobby is a great start, easy to work on, and they won't break your bank account with typical Porsche shop repairs. These are fairly rare cars, this car is not yet in the 912 Registry, so if you so choose, you will be the first person to put it in the Registry. They only built 10,845 of these cars, which last I counted, there were only about 431 registered so far. If you want to do some research the registry has tons of information on them. The 912 was originally built from 1965-1969, then reintroduced as a 1976 911E, which they began production of them in 1975. This is a very nice car, that I consider a very nice driver, that you can enjoy right now. As time goes one, you will make small upgrades to it, to make it nicer, but for now, the only things I would do to it, is maybe have the seats recovered, I have seen new covers for around $300-350 from different companies, very affordable. The paint is in nice condition, has a nice gloss to it, has small chips and stuff, but overall looks decent, done the road you may repaint it, but for right now it looks good, and you will enjoy taking it to different events, cars and coffee, local shows, cruise nights, track days etc. This 912E, runs great, clutch feels nice, brakes etc, nothing really to do but drive and enjoy. The last gentleman that owned, bought it from his neighbor, in 1996, and believe they were the original owners of the car. He was a retired gentleman that was the car taker of this 912E for the last 18 years. He didn't really want to turn loose of it, but he had bought another car, and did not have room for them both in the garage, and did not want this 912E to sit outside, since he has always had it garaged since 1996. Please look at all the photos, you will get a very good idea of what this car is. Thanks, Jason 503-910-2085The body is very solid. No rust in the floors, trunk, door jams, all the supports are very good. Near the battery box there is some light surface rust, but very minor, I should have took some time and cleaned it, I did not clean under the hood, this is the way I got it, very impressive inside the compartment in the trunk as well. No signs of any accidents, very clean inner aprons front and back, no concerns underneath, in very good solid shape. The sunroof does not leak, but around the edge of the roof lip, there are a couple small bubbles, there is a small lip on the under edge of roof opening, kind of a strange place to have rust bubbles but pretty minor. The rest of the car is very good, rockers, fenders, floors, supports very, very solid, and impressive for a Porsche. As I mentioned before the paint is shiny, looks nice, there are various, small chips, a few small scratches, some touched up some not. Has a lot of small rock chips on the hood around headlights, pretty common on these, being white helps it a lot. The repaint in the 1990's, was decent, has some imperfections here and there, but nothing that really stands out in general, just not a 10K paint job or anything like that, just a very nice freshen up, driver quality, you may repaint it down the road one day, maybe not. There are no major dents or dings in the car, actually very straight down the sides, the doors all open very good, all the panels line up very nice. I love to drive the car, gets tons of looks from everyone, it is a good looking Porsche, and very stock looking which I like. The Sunroof is a nice option, love the coupe models with sunroof over the Targa's, just a nicer flowing looking car with the slippery roof line in my opinion. The drivetrain in the car looks to be original, looked at the transmission and engine numbers and everything looks correct. The engine starts right up, it likes to be warmed up a little bit before you drive it, not cold blooded or anything, just liked to be warmed up bit, though I drive a lot of old cars, and I like to get the blood flowing before I take off in them in general, even myself. I don't have any service history on it, besides that he had it recently tuned up, valve adjusted, brake work, etc, so no big paper trail or receipts. The engine runs good, idles nice, does not blow any smoke or burn oil, very clean running little 912E. No signs of any major engine oil leaks, there is general residue on the engine and transmission, from being an older car, but overall nothing hitting the ground. Even were he had the car parked in the garage, it was fairly clean and no fresh spots. Since I have had it no signs either, or burning oil smell. The transmission shifts nicely, 5spd manual, clutch feels very good. I have driven the car a lot, since I have had it, and have really enjoyed it. I drives very nice, and straight, feels good out on the road. The steering and response of these cars are great, the brakes stop really nice. If you have not gotten behind the wheel of a 911 or 912, you are in for a treat, true sports car feel, the visibility is really good, and you can see the road, and they just handle like a dream. Mechanically it seems to be in very good shape with no major issues to worry about at the moment. With that said, it will need general upkeep in the future, it is a vintage car, but it is something you can hop in and enjoy right now. Interior for the most part is original, and is in nice clean shape. The seats have some splits as you can see, I debated have the seats recovered, only $300-350 for new covers, then have them installed, really affordable. But thought, the original seats really show the true nature of the interior of the car, the seat foam and structure are really nice, no abused, you can really see what the car is from the interior so left it. The dash pad is nice but has a couple very small cracks, very minor just on the inside edge. The glass is in really nice shape, no cracks or chips. The door glass rolls up nicely, and down. The headliner, could use replaced down the road, it is a little dirty, and has a small tear in it. Honestly when I drive a Porsche I never notice the headliner, because I am to busy looking at everything through the windows. All the gauges are working, the radio is aftermarket and does work. The only thing that seems not to be working is the dash clock, everything else seems to be working as far as I can tell. Overall a decent original interior, with a little seat work, it would be in nice shape. This is a NO RESERVE, starting bid at $19.76, yes NO RESERVE, top bid gets it.
