Vehicle Detail
The Good 1. The body is in very good shape, some rust starting in a few spots, very fixable - see pictures. 2. Tires are in good shape, we have only put about 6,000 miles on it since we bought it. 3. Brakes must be still pretty good as my car place is only too happy to let me know when they are close to being worn out. Actually, I like the place :) It was inspected in late April, early May 2014. 4. Interior is in pretty good shape, front floor mats are the same that came here with the van. Have all the curtains (washed them sometime in the last year or so) 5. Engine is original, it gets us where we want to go and doesn't seems to use oil. 6. Have a mechanics manual and an engine stand for the van that will go with it. The engine stand is one of those low cradles with 4 wheels on it, cost about $30. I had visions of replacing the engine with a rebuilt, didn't happen. 7. Replaced windshield when we got it - June 2006. 8. Got new canvas for it, 3 window version, replaced it in June 2006. 9. New struts for the rear door in June 2006. 10. 2 reading lights in the rear, run off a secondary battery that I wired in, NOT the secondary battery under the seat, I do NOT have a stock secondary battery for it - see pictures for lights, battery is in the cabinet next to the fridge. 11. Replaced starter 2007. 12. Replaced water pump and thermostat May 2011. 13. Bought screens for sliding side windows, excellent condition. 14. Replaced seal on the camper top and luggage carrier last year. 15. NEVER driven on salt covered roads since I have had it, and the van came from CA in 2006, otherwise it would be a rusted hulk by now. Stored for the winters. 16. The jack is under the rear seat, the full size spare is under the front of the van, no idea how old that tire is and have never used it. Other tires were new as of 2006, put on before shipped to me. The In Between 1. I removed the rear cabinets up to where the fridge is at, water reservoir and power outlet so that the bed space was bigger, I also removed the tables, I have all that stuff stored in the basement and can put it in the van if you want it, I am not going to reinstall it. It is getting harder and harder for me to do that kind of work. 2. I don't think the rear heater works, never really needed it either. 3. The fridge and sink worked (used hookups) but haven't used either in years, not since I removed the cabinets and water tank, which was about 3 years ago. The Bad 1. Has an antifreeze leak somewhere, not a BIG leak, but I am in the habit of carrying a gallon of premix (50/50) and check the reservoir every time I go out. Sometimes it needs some, sometimes it doesn't. 2. Has a tendency to overheat if stuck in one spot idling for over 10 minutes. 3. The tailpipe is half rusted, will probably need a new muffler and tailpipe sometime soon, of course I have been waiting for it to fail inspection for the past 3 years on account of that, it hasn't, the muffler itself doesn't look half bad. 4. Keys work in driver's door and rear door, may be able to lube the others and get them working eventually, I didn't bother because I am able to lock it just fine the way it is. 5. Only has 3 hubcaps, I lost one, never replaced it, they are cheap anyway. Was going to get stock hubcaps this year, gowesty.com has been out of stock for a while, so that didn't happen. 6. No radio and I disconnected the cigarette lighter. The dash clock doesn't work. 7. If you let it sit for too long (I usually run it every 2 weeks somewhere, have gone up to 4 weeks without running it) the battery dies, so somewhere there is a very slow drain/short causing this. There was some improvement after I removed the old radio wires, but somewhere, something is draining power. When I run it somewhere once every 2 weeks, I haven't had to worry. This van has done everything we have wanted for 8 years, which has been for camping. My wife can't drive it anymore (no power steering) and she wants something she can drive, so it is time to let it go. Buyer is responsible for pickup, shipping, etc. Only payment by cash or bank check acceptable. I have listed all the pros and cons I can possibly think of, but feel free to ask questions. I still will be driving it locally so the mileage might be slightly increased by time of sale, but not by a whole lot.
