Here is a great little 1988 Toyota Pickup with the legendary 22R engine and 4-speed manual transmission. It is the first Toyota I have every owned and it has easily been the best, most reliable vehicle I’ve ever owned in my life. This truck has never let me down, and I now understand why these trucks have such a following. Also, parts are inexpensive, and it is easy to work on. With my family growing I now need something a little larger, but it is hard to let it go and I will really miss it. About 40k miles ago it received the following: New timing tensioners, timing chain, head gasket, seals, new water pump and fuel pump Not long after this it also received the following: new starter, new slave clutch cylinder, brake pads, new alternator, valve adjustment, and front end alignment. The valves are a little noisy, but I was told that this is normal for these engines. It also uses a little under a quart of oil in between oil changes, but it does not smoke and has plenty of power going up the hills. I have changed the oil regularly every 3,000 miles and the amount of oil it uses does not seem to be increasing. There are no leaks that I can find, the clutch seems to be in good shape, and the brakes work well. The undercarriage of this truck is in excellent condition with no rust that I can find. (The frame even has its original black paint!) The body is straight except for the tailgate and rear right corner of the bed, which as you can see in the photos, does have some dents. The clear coat has worn off in many places, but the blue silver base paint still seems solid. The windshield has some scratches and rock chips, but so far they haven’t created any problems. The cigarette lighter, horn, and passenger door lock do not work. The original vinyl on the seat is worn, but the cover looks good and the cushion itself is still firm. Like I mentioned, this truck has always come through for me and I’m sad to see it go. It is incredibly handy and is a great run-around truck. With the ball on the back step bumper that was added, I was able to pull a light trailer. I’ve seen lots of these engines go 300-400,000 miles (and some even longer), and if it is taken care of, this truck should have plenty of life left in it. If you are looking for a really dependable, solid little work truck, this could be the perfect truck for you. It does comes with a clear title in my name. As I mentioned earlier, I will need a $200 deposit received within 24 hours of the close of the auction.
