Vehicle Detail
This auction will be for a 1960 Ford Thunderbird. This Thunderbird is a factory Gray car with Red Leather interior. It came factory with the 352 engine and automatic transmission. It has power steering, power brakes, power windows and a full floor console. The engine and transmission are in unknown condition. I tried to turn it over but it is stuck. It looks all complete and may just be frozen from sitting. The oil is good in the engine and in the transmission. All the mechanical parts are all there and from what I can tell nothing is missing. The wheels all roll and nothing is frozen or stuck there. The Red Leather interior is in really remarkable condition. The rear seat looks like it was never sat in and is very clean and useable in a top notch car just the way it is. The front seats do have some leather fading, but are not ripped or torn. A good cleaning and dye job and I think they will be good to go. The drivers seat is power and does work. The console is really nice and complete. The front and rear door panels are good driver panels with no cut holes. Some light water damage on the bottoms maybe, but still very presentable just the way they are. The dash and gauges are all there and everything looks clean. The dash pad has peeled away but the glovebox and steering column and steering wheel are all good items to use on a driver or easy detail and restore. The body is what you would expect from a car that has sat around since 1987. There is rust on the rockers, floors and frame area. This Thunderbird is probably better used as a parts car then a restoration project. However, I have seen worse and have fixed worse myself. I guess its up to the new buyer. I will say the front bumper is very straight and nice piece for a driver. The chrome is a little faded, but it is a straight bumper that I would imagine would be worth a lot of money to someone who just needed it. The hood is rusted and not good. The trunk lid is in excellent shape, the taillights are in excellent shape and there are a lot of good trim pieces, lens and such that could be used. The miles are correct at 61,196 as I have plenty of paperwork, (2) titles from two different states, lots of registrations and paperwork that leads back to the 1970's. I also found the build sheet under the rear seat. Overall I think this 1960 Thunderbird is an excellent parts car for someone restoring one of these. This Thunderbird has a really good useable Red Leather interior and all the original screws, knobs etc. The windshield and drivers door glass are broken but all the other glass is in good shape. Lots of good parts here, but I do not want to part it out at this time. I want to try to sell it whole first.
