Vehicle Detail

I bought this car years ago as my first car and happily drove it in good weather. However, I am now in college and am not able to properly care for it or fix it up like it deserves. Also, college expenses are catching up with me and I need the money. This car has been a blast to own and drive, but it is time for me to sell it. It runs and drives well. Since it was sitting all winter and the gas is a bit old, it has recently been a bit more reluctant to start. After a long drive there is some dieseling when it is turned off. Also, a few new squeaks have developed in the rear undercarriage. These are problems that are easily resolved. The biggest problem that the car has is rust. The body is in good shape, but the floor pans should be replaced and there are a few spots on the frame that require attention. The fuel and oil pressure gauges do not work. A new functioning oil gauge has been mounted under the dashboard. The battery drains too quickly and should be replaced. The speedometer was not functioning for a little while so the mileage is not exact. However, it is doubtless very close. There are many small scratches and imperfections in the paint. The interior fabric has small rips in several places and the dashboard has cracks. there also is a two inch rip in the fabric top and a three inch rip in the driver's seat. It has a new sound system with auxiliary input and CD player, but this has been acting finicky lately. The overall condition of this car is good but far from perfect. Most of the problems are just due to it sitting. Overall, it would be a good driver or fairly easy restoration project. Included with the car is a fabric top, a full tonneau cover, and two convertible top covers. $500 deposit due via PayPal within 48 hours of auction closing. The buyer is responsible for shipping. Thanks. On May-20-14 at 12:02:59 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had a few more questions about the rust, so I added more pictures and will give more info. I talked to a well-regarded restoration shop about it and they said to get the undercarriage as good as new would cost about $2000. Less expensive options that target only the problem areas were in the $1000-1500 range. But this was a rather highbrow restoration shop so if a good local metalworker was used it would probably cost much less. Honestly, I believe that this car is a steal even if the full two grand is spent. I have also added a picture of the dash. I covered the dash splits with electrical tape years ago, and each visible area covered with black tape is a crack. New dash tops are readily available for $60. Hope this answers any questions.
