Vehicle Detail

1951 Chevrolet 3100 - 1/2 Ton Short Box NO RESERVE Hi, thank you very much for stopping by and checking out my 1951 Chevrolet 3100 Half Ton, Short Box Pickup. The first time I laid on this pickup, I was in love with it. To me when I bought it, I considered it a finished project, but I couldn't help myself, decided to put a Solid Oak /Polished Stainless Steel rails, just had to do it, plywood had to go. "Eugene" is a great looking rig for sure, everywhere I take him, people just love to walk around and look at him. Until I put the new bed in it, I was using him for taking to the lumber store and picking up lumber and stuff for restoring our vintage house. If I didn't have so many rigs right now, I would kind of like to keep him around a while. Hopefully the next owners will take nice car of him. He is a little multi-colored, well maybe a lot, but he is a seriously solid little truck. Please view all the pictures and read the description, this truck runs very good, purrs like a kitten. It has been upgraded with a 1967 - 292 Chevrolet Inline 6, has a custom drop axle upfront, I have the original one as well, just let me know. This truck if you want to take it and restore it as well, would be a good candidate for that, but most people like myself would consider it a finished project, just love the patina, the stance, and it just looks great. All it needs now is for you to hop in and take Eugene and your sweets to the local cruise in and have a ball watching the people gather around. The body is in good shape, I'll start with the bed and work my way forward. The bed is in very nice shape, it has surface rust, but it is really solid, no rust holes in it, very clean actually. The Oak Bed is brand new in it, and looks very nice, I choose to not recess the rails, I wanted them to stick up a little bit so the bed would not get scratched, if you wanted to haul something in it. This is a Real Oak Bed in it, finished with Honey Oak stain, and Outdoor Marine Spar Varnish, if you have ever done this you know how expensive this is to do this. The rear fenders are very solid, they have dings in them, but all the edges are very clean, no issues with them, or welding repairs. Inside the rear fenders are very clean. The running boards are very solid. The drivers side, on one part of the running board braces, there is some rust through, nothing to bad, easy fix, or just leave it. The cab is actually in pretty good shape. There are about 5 pin holes on the drivers side corner, but they could be welded up, the cab corner is very good actually, I took a picture from inside the truck for you. The passenger side cab corner is nice as well, no signs of rust there. The drivers door, front of cowl, and back of the cab, you will notice has primer on it. The door, cowl and back of cab edge, were all stripped down to bare metal. Nothing to hide, not any kind of repair, someone was going to restore the truck and started to sand it down, nothing doctored, you will see the small pin holes in corner like I mentioned, not covered up, and the drivers cowl, you can see it is had some bondo in it from the past, it has been beat back out, and left, no cover up there, besides the primer, to try and blend back in with the truck to keep the patina, the door is in really good shape. Passenger door, and cowl, obviously have old paint but in nice condition as far as I can tell. The hood is in nice shape, very clean no major damage. The passenger fender, is off of a 1954-55 Chev pickup, I thought about changing it out, but there is something about that green paint I like, so I left it. The chrome on the truck, well it has some chrome, has the perfect patina. You could change it out if you wanted, this truck is an open canvas, so do what you please. Obviously this truck has old paint, there is tons of surface rust, dings, dents beat back out, it is just perfect. The interior is decent, brand new original seat restored, and in great shape. Carpet is very nice, and clean. There is no headliner. The glass, is all there, windows roll up and down nicely. Windshield, has chips and cracks, and some delamination, but I kind of like the look personally, though easy to change out if you want. It does not have any door rubber around the doors, but I have had this out in the rain many times, and it does not leak inside. The speedometer and odometer are not working, needle is broken off of speedometer. The radio does not work either, may not be hooked up. The choke is on the dash and does work. The Oil Pressure, reads right in the middle at idle, Amp Gauge works, the gas and temp gauge are not working. The windshield wipers are not working, may be something wrong with the switch. I can grab the wiper blade, and move it and you can here the vacuum turn on, so something must be not hooked up correctly or maybe something else, so currently not working. Horn does not work either. There is some tinkering to do on the dash components. But what I can tell you is, hit the gas pedal once, pull the choke half way out and turn the key, it fires every time no question about that. The engine is a 1967-68 Chevrolet 292 Inline 6, a nice add to a truck like this, block number is 3851659, stamp pad F0702UH. The engine starts right up, does not blow smoke, actually a clean running little engine. The engine runs very smooth, just a stock engine, that was rebuilt about 10 years ago, no signs of any engine oil leaks. Probably on of the best little Inline 6 engines I have had, just fires right up the first time. The transmission is a 4 speed manual, shifts very nice, stays in gear, no gear noise, very smooth transition when shifting. The transmission leaks a little, see pictures, years of typical seeping, at the end of the day, after about 2 days of sitting, you might have a dime size drip on the floor after driving it, not to shabby, personally doesn't bug me to much, typical. The brakes work good, drums all the way around. Emergency brake not holding. Drop front end underneath of it, around $850 for the kit to do this, has lowering blocks in the rear. If for some reason you wanted to make it stock height I have the front beam and you can take the blocks out. It drives decent, it is an old truck, and suspension in general is old, it likes to wonder a bit, and bounce around a little, since it is lowered, but overall, great little intown and out in the country driver. I have had it out on the freeway, it likes 55mph, because of the stock gearing, they were not made to be highway runners back in the day. Overall, it is very dependable, 12v system, starts everytime. Tires are "The Lester Tire Co", vintage White walls, 6.0X16, they are in very nice shape, no cracking, look great and clean. One last thing, odometer reads 77,950 but not working so miles are unknown. Please view all the pictures, I can't explain the whole truck, but you can get a lot from the picture of what it is and what it isn't. Please read the auction and view the pictures many times this is what I would call a finished project, if you have questions let me know I would be glad to answer them for you. This is a NO RESERVE auction, meaning that I am going to let this car go for the highest bid.
