For sale: 1949 International Harvester IHC Metro KB3M milk bread ice cream step van. This van has survived 60 plus years in good original, complete condition. Here in the land of sagebrush and prickly pear cactus, we only get 10 inches of total moisture per year, and no salt is used on the roads. It's a great environment for preserving cars and trucks. These Metro vans are becoming very popular with rodders and make great rolling advertisement vehicles, mobile stores, food trucks, ice cream truck or mobile studios They also look cool chopped or lowered. There is room in the back to stand up and put living quarters, a harley, cooking equipment, speed parts, or? I'll do my best to describe it below: Exterior: Pretty straight, solid and rot-free high desert rig. We just don't see major rust issues here. I can't see anything at all other than minor surface rust below the driver door,(shown) and behind the front bumper(shown). There are a few dings here and there, nothing major. One crude repaint in silver over the original blue-green color . Grille is very good to excellent, if you see anything that looks like a flaw, it's probably just a reflection. I crawled underneath and there's some dried crusty mud, but I don't see any rust or rot. Original cow catcher will be included (shown). Rear door handle is broken and included. Roof appears to be in good condition. Driver door opens fine, passenger doesn't open all the way. Really just as you would have found one of these used 40 years ago. Interior: Nice original condition, a veritable time capsule. Looks like you're stepping back into the 50's. No water damage or smells. Heater behind driver seat looks factory installed. There is a mouse nest in upper compartment above window, but don't see any rodent damage anywhere. Great clean slate start for a hot rod, or use as is for a slice of history. Mechanical: Appears to be all original 6 cylinder drivetrain. Haven't tried to get it running, I was told it ran well when parked, but you know how that goes! Mileage shows 49k, pretty sure it's rolled over. Tires are badly weather checked, but all hold air. Looks complete and original. Pricing/Misc: I got a good deal on this rig and you will too. I see this era Metro bringing very good money when they are clean like this one. A similar but running KB1 just sold on Ebay last week for over $11,000. This truck needs a few things, it's not perfect, and it's priced accordingly. Reserve price is under $3500 for quick sale. Title is clear and in my name. GOOD LUCK!
