Vehicle Detail

Offered for sale is a custom, one of a kind, MKM (Michael Krauser Motorcycles) framed BMW. Built from a 1978 R100RS. Oregon title in my name, last plated in California. Bikes with this frame are currently featured in Motorcycle Classics magazine, March/April 2014, but mine is unfaired and has many more high performance parts. It is basically a race bike with a license plate. It is not currently rideable. I purchased the motorcycle from the builder himself in early 2000. It was featured in an article in a motorcycle magazine in August 1988. I will include a copy with the bike. The previous owner (builder) stated in the magazine feature about the bike that he would "Forget about cost, forget all the limitations, make anything I wanted." "The wheels and 13 inch brakes with four piston calipers are from Performance Machine. The engine has a lot of special pieces; it's1108 cc with Krauser 4 valve heads and a lot of head work; 12:1 Venolia pistons: a custom built handmade aluminum flywheel; a cast magnesium oil pan made in Germany, along with other magnesium parts, all the goodies." "It took about a year and a half and 20 grand to complete." (in 1980s dollars) When I bought it, the previous owner/builder told me that it has had the crankshaft turned and balanced, has a new high performance cam, rods had been balanced, and that the extra heads, transmission, rear end and shaft drive are all OK. I have not had it running or done any work on it and therefore am unable to furnish much first hand information about it's mechanical condition. I am unable to provide mileage amount, as bike is not equipped with an odometer. I have critically inspected the bike to the best of my ability, and found: Engine turns over Inside of gas tank appears to be in good condition Body work, frame, wheels, etc. show no dents, dings, or other damage. Paint is in excellent overall condition with a light stain on right side of frame (see picture) There is an approximately 1" x 3/16" scuff in the clearcoat on the right front top of the tank. The white paint under it appears undamaged (see picture). There are tiny paint chips on the headlight housing Front fender has a crack on left where it mounts to the fork brace and 4 small scratches in the white painted part (see picture) Brake discs have some mild surface rust (see pictures) Innermost cooling fin of right head has chipped corner (see picture) There are 4 small light scratches on the leather seat that did not puncture it (see picture) Rear shocks show seepage at the shaft seals Rear brake not currently functional. Master cylinder is empty, but shows no signs of leakage Will need some wiring sorted out and secured. It does not have any carburetors, exhaust system, battery or proper gas cap. Tires have lots of tread, but are old, and should be replaced, front tire loses pressure very slowly. Please feel free to inspect the bike, yourself. Included is a box of parts for it with 4 extra heads, electronic ignition parts, and many spare parts. See the pictures for details and more high end and/or custom parts on the bike, as well as the many other parts that go along with it. I offer it for sale in "as is" condition without warranty, expressed or implied. Sale is to be final. I have placed a modest reserve on it to protect my investment. It is in no way indicative of the true value of the bike. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to make an appointment to see it. It is located in Drain, Oregon. I can be reached by email (gerryponline@gmail.com) or at 541-345-3025. Buyer is responsible for vehicle pick-up or shipping but I will assist in coordinating with shipper.
