Vehicle Detail
Your ar bidding on a rare 1966 Renault Caravelle . I purchased this car from a friend who had inherited it a number of years ago when her father passed away. She would take it for short drives now and then but for the most part it remained parked. Her father had rebuilt the motor and brakes shorthly before his passing. When I purchased the car I checked all the fluids, put fresh gas in the tank, charged the battery and the car started right up and drove it around the neighborhood. The brakes seem fine but may need to be bled due to some air in the lines. The motor ran strong and did not smoke a bit. The transmission shifted smoothly thru all gears. The carb may need a little adjusting to get it to idle properly. The auto choke may need adjustment as well. After driving if a bit I decided to have a local uphoulstery shop redo the front seats and dash cover. The carpets and rear seating were still in good shape. I gave the car an overall quick detailing. The body needs to have some rust areas repaired and repaint the exterior of the car. The dash and trunk show the original blue and still look great. The floor pans are solid with only light surface rust underneath. The main rust spots can be seed in the pictures around the back side of the front wheel wells and on the side of the rocker panel. The top section of the windshield/top have some rust holes as well.. It appears the rust is minimal and should be easily corrected by a good body man. The car comes with a full toneau cover, 2 spare carbs, 2 spare tires, original jack and tire iron, and some other misc parts. The sun visor arms are included but will need the visor boards cut and installed. The passenger door arm rest is included but will need to be installed. If you have been looking to own one of these rare cars then look no further. I have set a fair reserve on this so someone can afford to buy it and drive it as is or enjoy finishing up a restoration on it. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule an inspection and test drive. Good luck bidding. I will assist overseas buyers with shipping. I was recently informed that the 810 engine number on the motor plate may indicate that it's a 1289cc engine from a 1971 or later car. The engine takes a different bell housing so the transmission may have been swapped too. One Renault expert said it is a better drivetrain to have in his opinion.
