Vehicle Detail

This is a 1966 Rover 3-litre P5 that has had a Buick aluminum V-8 installed with the Buick sourced Borg-warner 35 automatic transmission. The car is surprisingly rust-free...I know, they all say that. But I've been in the British Car Restoration business for 40+ years www.ragtops.com. This car is free of any perforations or heavy rust. It also has newly rebuilt and recovered seats. It came to us needing brake work as well as the usual repairs needed after long storage. The owner decided not to do the work and gave us the car. The starting price reflects what we curerently have in the car. More pictures are at We have replaced the brake master cylinder, both rear wheel cylinders, rebuilt front calipers, new hoses, new shoes and pads, cut drums and rotors. The non-original brake booster was bypassed. The battery box was cleaned and rebuilt, new battery, new wires. All electrics were repaired as needed. The fuel pump (which failed and probably parked this car all those years ago) is still in place, but a new modern pump is now moving fuel from the tank to the carb. New oil and filter, new coolant, new ATF, ignition tune-up parts, etc, etc. I drove the car more than 500 miles after all this work was done and it runs fine. It needs the suspensions gone over; many rubber bushings are shot. The exhaust is broken after the muffler. The paint and surface rust on the roof are obvious in the photos. The trunk has only remnants of trim. The tires were 'new' many years ago. They are no longer usable although they still hold air. The antenna is gone, but the radio works. All gauges and lights work. There are original owner's manual, tools, key fobs, etc. The seats have been recovered in new, correct leather and look great. The inside door panels need to be recovered. the wood trim is shabby and the headliner is coming down and the carpets are shot. The car has 'original' Air Conditioning; there's a Rover badge on the evaporator, but the system looks to be dealer-installed. There's no compressor and the condensor is located underneath the car. Rover did this engine conversion in 1967. They installed the Buick 215 (now Rover 3500) in the 3-litre, called it the 3.5 litre or, internally, the P5B. Queen Elizabeth had one for years - now you can, too.
