Vehicle Detail

Up for auction today is my 67 Shelby GT500E (ELEANOR). I have owned this car nearly 14 years. It took me almost 5 years to do the restoration to make it look like it does today. I purchased this car from a gentleman near the Oregon coast that had dreams of restoring her for many years. She sat under cover in his garage for along time. He had restored his wife's mustang and had no money left to restore this fastback. I have been involved with mustangs for many years and purchased this car within 6 minutes of looking at her. I knew I had a gem the moment I loaded it on the trailer. The car had never been wrecked and there were no signs of rust anywhere. The original panels were all there as well as the complete deluxe interior. The drivetrain was tired but complete and drove up on the trailer just fine. When I got her home, I drove her around a few weeks before starting the teardown. A year before I bought this car I had seen the famous movie "Gone in Sixty Seconds" and quickly started looking for the car that would become my Eleanor. This was a great car to build my dream car. After the sad and tedious job of teardown, she went to the blaster to get stripped. I got the car back a few days later to be pleasantly surprised that there were no surprises under the paint of the car. Everything was clean and rust free. We thru some primer on the car and sent her to my body man. He mounted the rotisserie on her and then performed all of the amazing body work to put Eleanor together. As you can see in the pictures, the panels all line up very nicely with outstanding gaps between all panels. The fenders line up to the doors which line right up to the quarter panels. The hood and deck lid fit very nicely to the car. The underneath of the car was stripped down as well and painted to match the pepper grey paint on top. A car like this had to be "ROTISSERIE RESTORED" this was the only way to do it right. In addition to the awesome work that the body man did, he also installed the additional torque box on the car. This provided more stability to the underframe of the car. Usually only convertibles had this additional support. During the 8 months that the car was at the body shop, we sent the engine and trans out to be rebuilt. The engine is a 351 Windsor that has been bored 30 over. The engine received a very nice rebuild with all new internal parts, Pistons, rings, cam, oil pump, lifters, seals, bearings, valves, etc. The heads were rebuilt. The cam/lifters were replaced with a nice performer cam that gives the motor a real boost with a nice lobe to the engine when running. The engine has a performer intake with a 600 Edelbrock that runs very well to. She has a nice HEI distributor with a built in coil. The alternator was changed to a single wire alternator that eliminated the need for a voltage regulator exterior of the alternator. The C6 transmission was sent to a very good shop that rebuilt it to performance specifications. It runs very nicely and matches the engine performance very well. Rounding out the mechanical details. The power steering was rebuilt, along with all of the suspension and brakes. The car has power 4 wheel disk brakes. These brakes stop the car very well and are very easy to use. The power assist makes it very easy to press the pedal. The rear end is a ford nine inch rear end that has a higher gear ratio in it. The car comes with a posi 3rd member if the new owner wants it. I took it out and replaced the gears with a higher gear ratio to give my wife and I a little better gas mileage around town. The exhaust is the special exhaust needed to make the famous side exhaust work for this special car. The exhaust sounds fantastic matched to this motor and comes with the really nice special made tips for the side exhaust. A local performance exhaust shop did all of the custom work to this car and it looks superb. In addition to the upgrades to this car, the shop installed some very nice global west subframe connectors as well. The car is riding on some very nice Edelbrock 454 wheels. 17x9 in the front and 17x10 in the rear. The tires in the front show a little bit of wear, but for the most part the tires a have a lot of life left in them. The interior was redone by a local upholstery shop in town that specializes in classic cars. This deluxe interior is in very very nice shape with no rips or issues with the upholstery. The headliner is nice and tight with no wrinkles at all. The carpet is in very nice shape. The fold down seat is in very nice condition as well. This interior still shows as new. There is a dvd player installed in the console which works very well. The interior is also outfitted with a 15 inch Shelby steering wheel. As well as the original overhead console. The interior has 6 speakers installed with the stereo. All of the speakers are mounted without cutting any panels on the car whatsoever. The only modification was to the console to accommodate the dvd and screen when it slides out. As you can see in the pictures, the trunk was customized to accommodate the 10 inch subs and the elimination of the fuel filler. In addition this car has electronic sequential turn signals that are controlled from a module in the console. You are able to adjust the speed of the flash if you like. Everything works great on this car. The amount of time and money spent on this car is amazing. This car was a work of love. This car made the rounds at all of the car shows for 2 years and received just about every award in every category there is. I have had many many offers on this car over the years and could never bring myself to let her go. Unfortunately life throws you a curve sometimes and we are now selling our baby. The new owner will be very happy with this car and the level of craftsmanship that went into it. To sum up this high quality beautiful car, She is a 1967 Shelby GT 500E. She is Dupont Pepper Grey with black stripes. She comes equipped with a 351 Windsor, C6 Automatic Transmission, Power steering, Power 4 Wheel Disc Brakes, Deluxe Interior with both consoles, Sequential Tail Lights, DVD Player, Dual Exhaust, Fold Down Rear Seat, Customized Trunk, Rotisserie Restored. Car runs and drives like new. I get stopped in this car constantly with people asking for pictures or rides in the car. She attracts a crowd at every store or stop that we make in this car. The few flaws in this car are a few minor blemishes in the paint. The paint is 10+ years old and looks the same as she did when it was first done. The front fender on the driver side has a small split where I tried to push it up hill many years ago and put abit of stress on one of the seems. The other is in the rear drivers side at a seem where again I pushed the car in that area. These little areas are over 10 years old and have not changed during that time. There is the chip in the paint that you will see here in there. I have looked over the car very well and have to really look to see any issues. It is that clean. Now for the mean stuff.....Please bid on the car only if you are serious about owning a truly remarkable car. I have had to relist stuff in the past because of someone not following thru on there commitment. I am listing this car in other locations and reserve the right to end this auction at any time. This car, while absolutely stunning is not a 100 point perfect car. If you want that then get ready to fork out some serious money for one of these. I am talking in the 100+ thousand range. This car is a stunning example of the famous Eleanor Shelby and will bring what she is worth in todays market. The new owner will not be disappointed in this one. PLease bid with confidence as she will bring you years of great pleasure for owning her. I have tons more pictures and video for those who need to see more. Just feel free to contact me with all questions and requests. Happy Bidding!!!!!! On Apr-24-14 at 05:56:22 PDT, seller added the following information: I am receiving many questions and offers on this car. At least 35 to date. I will get back to everyone asap. Other questions to answer. Yes there is an aluminum radiator that cools this motor. Works very well. The DVD player has capability to run video to the trunk. It is set up that way and was once using a video screen in the trunk for car shows. What movie did we play "Gone in Sixty Seconds" of course. Have had a few questions about floor pans. The whole car is original metal (outside of the Shelby fiberglass) and the floor pans are very very nice. NO rust at ALL. All lights and turn signals work. Switches for the front fog lights are mounted on a custom bracket in the glove box. ANd yes I will post more picsand hopefully a link to video hear shortly. I need to figure out how to do that. I will answer more questions as well in the next few days. On Apr-27-14 at 09:19:21 PDT, seller added the following information: Answering all the questions I can. I have posted 6 more pictures of the undercarriage and fold down seat area. Please forgive the resolution of the pictures. The pictures don't really do the car justice especially the undercarriage pics. The paint is much brighter and clear underneath. Thank you for the bids thus far. It is nice to have the compliments on the car. She does deserve it. I wish I could figure out how to post video of the car driving etc. It is nice to see. Please keep the questions coming. If you need my contact number, please feel free to ask in your email to me. Coming down to the last few days, I will try to keep up with the inquiries etc...thx
