Vehicle Detail
For sale is a California 73 240Z. This is not a show car but its a solid 20 footer driver car. The only rust I know of on the car is a small bubble under the paint against the hatch glass otherwise this is rust free. The battery box is even totally solid with no rust problems. There is a 77-78 louvered 280z hood on the car now but if you want a stock hood I've got one on a parts car, I'd be happy to swap them out for you. Unfortunately someone has put a sunroof in the car sometime before I got it but that can be easily fixed if you're not a fan of aftermarket sunroofs. The interior is rough but its all there just missing the carpet and of course the radio, of all the early Z cars I've owned the radio has always been missing. The dash has 2 or 3 cracks in it of course but I have a cap I will send with the car to cover that up. All of the gauges work with the exception of the tach. Someone has installed a Crane xr700 electronic ignition module and I don't have any instructions for it and don't know how to make the tach work with it. The clock on the other hand does work, just runs a little slow. All lights and turn signals work as do the wipers so you can drive rain or shine, day or night with confidence. The engine is a F54 flat top shortblock from a 280zx with an E31 head which appears to have been rebuilt fairly recently. Fresh looking paint on the block with no rust anywhere and it doesn't smoke at all. It has early 3 screw roundtop SU's on it which also appear to have been rebuilt. The car starts up easy at any temperature and has never given me a single problem. This engine is backed up by the zx close ratio 5 speed which shifts very nice and smooth, it will however jump out of 5th gear sometimes when you're coasting down a hill off the gas. I daily drive the car and it gets good gas mileage and drives great. Steering is tight and tracks straight down the road. The Brakes are original but have braided stainless flexible hoses front and back and will tear your face off they stop so fast. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this z anywhere, you could fly in and drive it home if you want. Feel free to ask any questions and if you're local I'd be happy to show you the car in person before you buy just message me to set something up. Update: I put the car on a lift today to take pictures of the floor pans and common rust areas and found that it does have 1 small hole directly under the driver seat. I am adding a picture of that to the listing right now. I also added pictures of the front frame rails where almost all 240s rust out to show how clean this one is. I have plenty of pictures of the undercarriage for anyone interested, just send me a message. Thanks
