The last time I had a Smart diesel Cabrio with this few miles, winning bidder was well over $11,000. Standard options including traction control, block heater, keyless entry, electric windows, and power locks. Optional accessories include air conditioning, power convertible top, power heated mirrors, premium wheels, and underseat locking storage compartment. For an extra $250 I can install cruise control (not available on N. American models until 2012 but have the kit used on cars in Europe). Pictures of the car were taken indoors due to bad weather outside. Mechanically, everything works on this car. Smart starts right up on a cold morning without even needing to plug in. Does not leak any fluids whatsoever. This car is definitely more then capable of doing a cross country trip. Finally, I do drive the vehicle somewhat, so mileage may increase slightly during the auction. There are just a few things that make Smart cdi's unique and one of only about 100 or so here in the United States. It is powered by a Mercedes engineered turbo diesel that is well known for lasting hundreds of thousands of miles. This euro-spec version has been in production since 1998 and has been proven dependable. I can easily achieve 50 to 60 mpg and hits speeds of 75+ comfortably on the freeways. The transmission is a Tiptronic (no clutch manual or sometimes called "slap stick"). This model also has the selector switch for the fully automatic transmission feature. And finally, unlike the 2nd generation US models, it also has 6 speeds instead of the 5. Many questions always come up regarding servicing the car. An online manual is available from the website "Evilution". Ebay does not permit me to place the link in, but just Google it. There you will find a wonderful resource with helpful descriptions and pictures to help in performing repairs and maintenance. As for mechanics to do maintenance on the car; I always recommend contacting an independent mechanic specializing in European cars. Sometimes they employ mechanics fresh "off the boat" from Eastern Europe that have knowledge of these cars over there. Having disclosed that the car is a grey market car, please check your DMV to ensure it will title in your state. I have a clear Ohio title and will pass it on to the buyer. If you live in a state not listed, please check with your DMV or local title office to find out the procedures for titling gray market cars in your state. Be sure to mention it already has a clear Ohio title. If you happen to live in a state that does not allow for this car (like California for example), please contact me first before getting too discouraged.
