Vehicle Detail

We just received this beautiful E-type on consignment. This car was just recently put back on the road after being in storage since around 1993. The car was put back on the road by another local shop but since it has been here we have done a tune up, gone through the carbs, and now have the car running great. Whenever we list cars we try to highlight everything on the cars so there will be zero surprises when they are picked up or test driven. So please don't let this scare you we just want our customers to know exactly what they are bidding on. This car is far from perfect but is a very good car to start with. The car is solid, the only rust that we have found is in the top right hand side of the passenger door and along the bottom as well as right in front of the battery where they all rust a small hole The floors, rockers, and other typical places that are prone to rusting are very good. This car has a folder full of receipts dating back to 1987 when the car was purchased by the current owner. This car under went a small rebuild in the late 80's. A very reputable body shop completely painted the car and installed rockers and floor pans. Just looking the car over you can't tell the panels had been changed, I learned this by looking through the receipts. When the car was painted the body shop when as far as spraying inside the doors, the trunk, and under the hood. You can tell the car use to be red in a few spots under the hood and trunk where the paint has been scratched off. The doors do have some door dings/waves but is very hard to photograph effectively. Be sure to look in the linked album for a close up picture of the paint. The paint on the car looks like a 25 year old black paint job. It has swirl marks, some small etching, and some rock chips. The pictures make the paint look better than it really is, although a good detail man could make this car look much better. The interior is in ok shape. The seats are torn where the top goes up and down but the covers are still soft and the cushions are still in good shape. The dash is also in fair shape, the dash pad has no cracks and dash face and glove box are nice. All the gauges work, all the switches except the hazard switch are working. You can tell in the pictures that the wood steering wheel is delaminating. The center console and shifter are still fair. The carpets are all there but bits and pieces have been replaced over the years so there is about 3 different types of black carpet. The top is an old Amco and we stored down over the years so the top will have to be replaced. The top bows is nice and goes up and down with out any issues. All the chrome on the car is intact but does have the normal age pitting in them. The wheels do have some surface rust and pitting as well. The tires all hold air but are dry rotted form storage. All the lights work fine. The car starts right up on cold morning and drives great. The brakes and suspension are all tight. The car does have a slight oil leak from the valve cover (but what british car does't?) Here is a link to undercarriage pictures and some more detailed pictures overall. There is a spot under the front right rocker panel where the paint is missing and has some surface rust. However the metal is still solid. http://s1159.photobucket.com/user/classicbrits/slideshow/Series%201%20etype Any questions about this item feel free to message us or call us at McLeod's British Cars 1-800-352-5816. Knowing the history that I do I would say that its safe to assume that the body number is the same.
