If you have been looking for a beautiful, serviced, wonderful driving, FUNCTIONING Range Rover, wait no longer! Background: Let me begin with a little background. This truck was ordered in a BEAUTIFUL color and option package. There are few color combinations that look as pretty as black on black on a luxury truck. This gorgeous Range Rover is Beluga Black on Ash Grey Leather (which is BLACK - never understood why they called it Grey!). It was also optioned with the upgraded HSE package! Which included the larger, more powerful 4.6L V8 engine. This HSE (or High Specification Edition) had a base price of $62,000 in 1996/97 and was the top of the line Range Rover for 1997. It came stock with 18" Mondial wheels (this truck has been upgraded to OEM Land Rover Proline wheels! - more about that in a minute), chrome exhaust tip, leather covered shifter, and Homelink garage door opener built in. The Condition and Service: This truck has been ENTHUSIASTICALLY and PROFESSIONALLY maintained and serviced and is a high standard for Rover service! Let's start on the engine and drivetrain: This engine and truck have LOW MILES (less than 8,000 a year), only 125,900 miles appear on the odometer and the entire truck shows the same care. There has been A TON of scheduled and preventive maintenance performed to this truck to keep in near brand new condition. The engine is very healthy and has loads of smooth power! This was the upgraded 4.6L V8 which made 225hp @4750rpm and 280ft lbs of tq @3000rpm. -HEAD GASKETS As part of the preventive service schedule, this truck received brand new OEM head gaskets and OEM headbolts. It was installed by a master Rover tech with several decades of experience. The truck runs COOL as can be and has never overheated. It also has totally rebuilt heads! New valve stem seals, pressure tested, surfaced and cleaned! -UPPER AND LOWER ENGINE GASKETS While being serviced, the valve cover gaskets, valley pan gaskets, valve stem seals, upper intake gaskets and crank seal, all resealed among a few other minor seals. NONE of these were leaking, but were done in order to keep with the same high regard and care. -LOWER ENGINE Great shape, no knocks, noises or mechanical issues!! As with ALL Rovers there is some minor "moisture" at oil pan seals, power steering etc. Its the British car way. That said the truck leaves no puddles or drips. -RADIATOR The radiator was cleaned in order to keep maximum flow and keep this beauty nice and cool. The temp needle NEVER moves past the 50% mark even with the AC on and in traffic. -HOSES New OEM upper and lower radiator hoses, heater core hoses and breather hoses! -THERMOSTAT New thermostat replaced during full servicing! -IGNITION Brand new Champion coppers (the RIGHT plugs) and wires. -EMERGENCY BRAKE Recently adjusted and tight, only a couple notches on the handle holds the truck tight -TRANSMISSION The trans was just given all new fluid and shifts great! This is the ZF 4HP22-E trans and feels great! -DIFFS and DRIVESHAFTS New gear oil in the diffs and lubricated u-joints -SWIVEL BALLS Fresh grease, serviced and shims -FUEL PUMP The truck received a brand new fuel pump a couple years ago to replace a weak pump. Great fuel pressure and runs like a beast! -FUEL INJECTORS The fuel injectors were replaced and flow great with no issues! -O2 SENSORS The truck has newer O2 sensors to keep it running great. The truck just was smogged for CA recently and passed with flying colors!!! Also CA residents, registration is up to date too! This thing is ready to roll! -BATTERY The truck has a BRAND NEW BOSCH battery. It cranks up right away and has YEARS of carefree service ahead of it. Lets move to the suspension and brakes: -BRAKES Brand new OEM brake pads in the front and rear - loads of pad life! The truck brakes great. No ABS lights! ABS pump very quickly builds pressure, pedal feels great and no leaks or issues! -AIR SUSPENSION This is the REAL CHERRY for a P38 Range Rover. Most people/mechanics get scared to service the Electronic Air Suspension (EAS) on these trucks and convert them to springs in order to not get involved. This truck has had the air suspension completely serviced and checked and is FULLY FUNCTIONING. There are no codes, no ride height sensor, valve block, EAS computer or airbag issues. This truck rides WONDERFUL. Ahhhh, cushy wonderful air suspension is a treat! Cushy over bumps, but tight from great shocks in the corners. The truck features a toggle switch on the dash that allows for 4 preset ride heights. 1) Access Mode - low vehicle height meant just to ease access in and out of the truck. 2) Highway Mode - the truck automatically lowers to height between Normal mode and Access Mode in order to keep center of gravity lower during highway speeds. 3) Normal Road Mode - this mode is the default ride height to drive around town. 4) Off-Road Mode - raises ride height to a maximum height for clearing obstacles, fording water, or general off-road or clearance requiring driving. The switch in the dash toggles up Modes 1,3 and 4 (2 is automatic only) and ride height lock button works great to prevent the system from changing heights if you need to maintain access mode in a garage etc. For the Rover nut keep reading! The bronze line collars have been replaced on most lines, valve block has been pressure checked. EAS computer has been checked manually as well as run through Rover software to show proper sync. The passenger front bag showed signs of wear and was replaced with a brand new OEM Rover airbag. The truck sits level and does not lower down to the bump stops overnight like SO many trucks do. This truck stays at the ride height it was left at! No leaks!!!! You can hear it adjust pressure, self level and fully operate. -STEERING The steering is tight and has no excess play. Let's continue to the exterior: -PAINT The paint is very nice! It is a 8 out of 10 easily. There is only minor signs of wear. There are few minor dings which are very hard to see in pics and in person, some minor flaws (chips, fade, scratches, dried wax in some corners, etc). There is NO RUST. Take that east coast Rovers! Remember this is a 16-17 year old truck, there may be some minor scratches, wear etc, but they are well below any expectation level for Range Rovers or cars of this year. I try to explain these the trucks the best I can! Its hard if not impossible to see in pics and you have to be right up on it to see it in person. Could almost not mention it just trying to be thorough!!! -WHEELS Gone are the Mondial wheels this Rover came with from the factory. They were great wheels, but also look a little dated on the truck. So they were replaced with 18" Factory Land Rover Proline wheels. These wheels are correct wheels for the P38, but just were not offered until later models of the P38 Range Rover. Gives the great look of a new P38 without dealing with the increased complexity and cost of the later P38 years. The wheels are in great shape with no major flaws or curbing. -ROOF RACK Attached to the OEM Rover roof rack mounts is a fantastic two arch roof rack. Simple in design, its perfect for skis, surfboards, camp equipment or whatever else your heart's desire. These racks are highly sought after on P38 and really add a great look without having to commit to a huge full rack. -GLASS Not to let a pebble defeat this truck, the windshield is great shape! -TRAILER HITCH The truck has a factory trailer hitch and is wired up and ready to tow. -FOGLIGHTS OEM foglights both work great! Onto the cabin: -SEATS The Ash Grey Leather seats are fantastic!!! (Again, despite Rover's silly naming, they are black!) There is NO cracking, NO tears, NO seams coming apart. They are incredibly supportive with what feels like zero foam wear. The leather is soft and show only minor signs of use. -DOOR PANELS All of the panels are free of dents or major defects. -HEADLINER From the factory, the black interior trucks still received a beige headliner and pillar covers. It always looked out of place! To better complete the look the headliner was upgraded to black to match the interior! The pillar covers, windlace and light covers were painted to match. The paint is down well and is nice and smooth. The dome light paint looks fair, but is very hard to notice unless you are looking right at it. -CARPET Wonderful shape carpet and full OEM Range Rover rubber floor mat set! -POWER SEATS All power seat functions work perfect! Hard to find in a Range Rover! -POWER LOCKS All doors lock and unlock with central locking function. The keyless entry unlocks and locks all doors and arms the alarm. RARE to find a good working system in a P38! -POWER WINDOWS Windows all work! The driver side front window every once and while stops mid way up. It doesn't get stuck there, just press the button again and it goes up. Not a big deal, just want to disclose everything I know! Its the anti-trap feature which stops the window anytime it thinks someones arm/head etc is out the window in order to prevent injury. -SUNROOF Sunroof works great, tips forward to vent and slides back to fully open! -RADIO/CD CHANGER OEM radio sounds fantastic! -AC/HEAT/HVAC Panel AC is ice cold and Heat is earth core hot! This is not the typical P38 HVAC panel that you have to click your heels and pat your head and pray to the moon gods to get it to work right. Aside from one or two LCDs on the drivers side temperature everything works great. The fan control knob works great, the driver and passenger dual zone climate control, blend motors and vent controls all work. Auto temp mode works great too!! This truck also has a brand new OEM heater core! From the factory some heater cores crack over time, so this one was replaced during a dash cover restoration while it was easy to access! -DASHBOARD The old dashboard in this truck started to show signs of shrinking on the foam backed vinyl. There was some minor cracking and curling. NOT ANYMORE! The dash pad was replaced with a great condition dash pad from a low mile P38! -MIRRORS Power mirrors work perfectly! -WOOD Very nice wood on the console, doors and dash! The finish is great and the stain is smooth -STEERING WHEEL The leather is nice with only minor flaws, no serious wear or split seams! The Experience Driving this Range Rover is fantastic. It is Lexus quiet inside, pulls and handles like a sports car and is as comfortable as a Rolls Royce. Its got all the power it had from the factory and from even a little gas is torquey and responsive. I hope you can tell by my long ad that this truck is a great pre-owned and beautiful Land Rover. It's tax season, treat yourself to this truck, that you will not have to dump TONS of money into in this NO RESERVE AUCTION! There is well over $8k in recent scheduled and preventive service alone in this truck so you are ready to go another 100k+++ of care free miles. Don't buy an unserviced truck for a little less than spend 3 times as much to get it to this level of service! Feel free to ask me any questions at all. That said if ever you encounter an issue I do my best to provide advice, direction or even parts if I have them. Please understand that it is a used car and will have minor signs of use. That means please do not expect a showroom brand new truck. Please adjust your expectation level to that of a 125,000 mile truck that however is well above average for its year. This is very low miles for Range Rovers of this year, but please just remember that no 125,000 mile truck is perfect cosmetically. It is though a very clean, very nice truck! Please only bid if you intend to buy. If you would like to have eBay 3rd party mechanic service check out the truck I more than welcome it. Please ask any and all questions ahead of purchase.
