1989 BMW 735iL VIN: 1J4FJ78S2SL612041 THERE ALMOST 40 HUGE IMAGES OF THIS SEDAN SHOWN BELOW! DESCRIPTION: This NO RESERVE auction is for a BMW 735iL luxury four door sedan. These automobiles were top of the line in their day, and many people still like these cars for their classic looks, performance, feel and safety. This example is being sold "as is". As an urban warrior it has suffered some neglect and needs more than a day of beauty to revitalize it. We don't know much about the car's history, but it currently can't be driven for any distance. The car starts, runs, stops and shifts, but is suffering from a major coolant leak from someplace up front. We don't know if it is the radiator, a hose or something else. It is definitely up front and NOT coming out of the engine. We were shocked that this BMW has only 145,992 actual miles. There is no smoke, noises or other gremlins present in the engine. As a matter of fact the engine sounds really good. These vehicles produced plenty of usable go from the proven 3.5 Liter six cylinder power plants and it has positive shifting through the automatic transmission. The exhaust system is quiet and the brakes are working well. The car actually passed the New York State inspection for emissions and safety recently. Putting this car back into proper working condition will require some time and money, for sure. What will need attention, in addition to the correction of the water leak, will include, but not be limited to: dents on both rear doors of the car, damage to left side bumper insert and lower valance, passenger wiper arm needs to be replaced (shaft is good), front hood and trunk lid lift pistons are shot, driver's side seat back frame is damaged and there are warning lights such as SRS and low coolant. The headliner is sagging, the spare tire is shot, (two good snow tires go with the car), and the general condition of the interior is soiled. The carpeting was spared from destruction by heavy floor mats which were just discarded. The finish on the turbine wheels are all very tired.Other noticed condition issues include some minor chips and scratches on the exterior finish typical of an urban driven car. It looks much better in the pictures than it does in person.
