Here is a true timewarp for all diesel fans.This powder blue Mercedes benz 220D has all the features a hypermiler or plain thrifty person would want in a diesel.No powersteering,roll up windows and a manual sunroof seem to hint at a german order sheet,but powerbrakes,a manual webasto sunroof and the 4 speed on the console manual shifter point at an American buyer. This /8 looks like a 2 year old ca.At first I thought the paint to be original but inspecting the car over and under,it reiceived a high end paintjob in the past,the car was taken apart for that purpose,all doors,and glass were removed,new doorseals,windowfelts and rubbersill plates as well as new windowgaskets were installed.If you have ever done a Mercedes,these parts alone cost around a thousand dollars.The aluminum brightwork on the doortops look new there are no scratches on them.All 4 loppstyle salt and pepper floormats are new,the seats have been rebuilt with correct materials and covered in the very durable mb-tex.The trunck received a new seal and the factory rubber mat.New motor and transmission mounts were installed and all filters and fluids were changed,the valves were adjusted to factory specs.I never thought it would be possible but in 2014 this bread and butter diesel actually turns heads.This car runs smooth and drives tight,riding in the backseat brought back memories of taxi trips in berlin.Properly serviced this car will last another 41 years,the Mercedes museum had one donated by a greek cabdriver with multiple millions of miles on it.For the issues that still have to be addressed-the a/c compressor leaks,it already has been converted to 134.This might be a good time to install the twice as efficient sanden compressor.The headliner has a small tear next to the chrome handle.i have not heard the becker radio yet.Tires are at 80 percent brake hoses and calipers[yes it has 4 wheel disc brakes] are new.I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere.For inspections or questions and test drives please call 214/707 9525.
