Vehicle Detail

We are listing this 1968 MGC with an automatic transmission for a friend. The car is being sold because health issues no longer allow enjoyment of this meticulous car. If you are looking at this MGC you most likely know about the rarity of this car and it's quality as a road car as well as it ability to handle interstate travel. I have owned an MGC for over 30 years; you can not discribe the smoothness and the relaxed travel in the "C". It's a car you have to drive! What I will remind you of is how rare the factory Borg-Warner (type 35 three speed) automatic transmission is in the MG. Of the 1320 MGC automatics made, only 556 of those were roadsters and 453 that were sent to the USA. That being said, there are still parts available as this tough little automatic transmission was used in other cars.As you will see from the pictures, the car is the closest thing to perfect as you will find in an MG. The present owner bought the car for his wife who could not drive a standard transmission. At the time that it was purchased, the car had gone through a total restoration. That was seven years ago. The car has always been kept in a dry, heated garage and, of course, has never been driven in any type of bad weather. There are so many goodies that come with this car. The convertible top was replaced by the present owner after he purchased it. The rear window and the side windows are in perfect, see-through condition. The top wasprofessionally installed. Additional items that will be included, as seen in the pictures are: - full tonneau cover w/bag (New)- tonneau bars w/bag- top cover w/bag- gray Moss 'cockpit' cover (New)- full car cover in box (New)- stock jack- jack (after market)- knock-off wrench w/bag- wooden knock-off tool- tool roll (New)- fabulous wicker picnic basket with custom waterproof case- (2) laminated wiring diagrams- misc. hoses /fan belt/ throttle cable /tune up parts- funnel- wire wheel brush- misc. fluids - oil - brake fluid - Meguiars detailer- MGC shop manual - (2) MGC manuals - Sony radio manual- brand new maintenance free battery just installed- spare wheel is chrome and perfect, new spare tire never on the ground- custom spare tire cover with matching red piping- front badge bar with driving light mounts This MGC has a wonderful rust free body with a superb paint application. There is no bubbling, or rust at all on this car. The chrome, including the four wire wheels is a sparkling example of a well cared for automobile. The interior looks as if it rolled right off the showroom floor. The seats, dash, and carpeting are all in excellent condition. The door panels are intact, with no holes being drilled for the speakers. Speaking of speakers, there are two custom built additions that hug the rear wheel wells. They are very adequate in delivering great sound to the front driver and passenger seats. One more convenient feature is the split battery cover behind the rear seats. This allows easy access to the battery box when needed. Both battery boxes have liners, but with only the single battery now, the other box is great to hide those spare parts. Although the brake servos were rebuilt as well as the master cylinder, the brakes did not suit the owner. They were changed for early MGB brakes. The car stops straight and smooth. The servos are in place to look correct, but are just bypassed. The engine power is smooth and strong, shifts are perfect. It has a new battery and has a battery tender installed. It is a show winner everywhere it goes. It has never sat, always driven enough to maintain its great running condition. The mileage is an uncertainty. We have not been able to verify if these 31,000 miles are original or not. The pictures will tell the story. There are many more pictures and a short video hosted athttp://s769.photobucket.com/user/68MGC/library/ I can't think there are any spots un-photographed, but if I did miss something, just ask and I'll return the pictures to you. The MG can be seen on request in Wilmington, Ohio. Issues over the years have been few and always handled by a professional MG shop. I'm sure I've missed a lot of the little details, things like all the little power coated parts, all the little re-chromed parts, and so many things that can't be seen. This is one of the finest MGCs in the country and with its rare automatic transmission, holds a high place as a collectable, scarce automobile. Nothing was spared in the restoration of this car, and none cared for or pampered more than this one. I will help in any way possible with shipping, loading, or local pickup. Keep in mind that this is a 46 year old car and the car is being sold without a warranty. If you have any questions, please feel free to send an email. It goes without saying but I will anyway. The car is listed locally, I reserve the right to end the auction early. I require a $500 deposit within 24 hours. The balance within 7 days and or pickup. Paypal or bank transfer preferred. Any bank check will have to clear without a doubt and of course, cash is an option. I'm not a car salesman but I have had to deal with scams. I'm very cautious where my friend is concerned. With that being said, we will work anyway we can to help someone get the car of their dreams and make the process as easy as possible. On Mar-25-14 at 14:35:56 PDT, seller added the following information: The compression test I did today put the two highest cylinders at 130 lbs and the two lowest at 120 lbs. This was with a cold engine. The owner does not have any information on the engine work done when the car was restored as he bought it as a finished car. On Mar-25-14 at 19:31:01 PDT, seller added the following information: Sorry for the fat fingers. That's NO smoke, not on smoke. I also checked the keys, the same key works doors and boot. On Mar-30-14 at 07:38:50 PDT, seller added the following information: Engine number is 29GA/RC/H 1346
