Vehicle Detail
1932 Chevrolet Confederate Pickup NO RESERVE Thank You, for checking out my 1932 Chevrolet Confederate Pickup, very hard to find early Chevrolet trucks. I don't have any stats, but I would imagine, for every 100 early 30's Fords, you might see 1 Chevrolet pickup. Anyone who knows these trucks, knows they are rare and hard to find. From my research, 1931-32 were the first factory production pickups that Chevy produced. The 1931 Indepenence and 1932 Confederate were identical in looks, but the 1932 model year was a Pinnacle year for Chevrolet trucks. The 1931 Independence Pickups used the Inline 6 car engine, but for 1932 they came out with the first Truck inline 6 Stovebolt Engine. This engine in the truck is a correct 1932 Chevrolet 194 Inline 6, Serial Number is on the block, denoting it is a 1932, K3185251, and Block casting 836573. So to have a 1932 Chevrolet Truck, with a correct engine, is pretty rare in itself. This truck was restored probably in the late 80's, still in great shape, and looks great. You can use it out on your farm, put it in your collection, take it in Parades, or just drive it around, it is very nice looking even though its restoration has aged a little. This is a very solid truck, that is turnkey and enjoyable right now. The body on this truck is in great condition, all the panels are very clean. If you view the later pictures as well, you will see it up on my lift, so you can see the frame, and under structure of it. This is a very nice driver, this is a truck that you can use and enjoy, but you will still park it out far away from other cars in a parking lot. It was painted in the 80's, but looks nice, but has aged a little, various little chips and scratches, just from being used. When you get up close to it, you can see were the paint has some checking, and age to it, from 15' away, you wouldn't notice it to much, but right up on it, you know you are dealing with an older restoration, with that said to me it looks great. I would say the restoration, at the time, might have been by an individual a very good amateur restoration, not a professional shop. With that said, it is very nice, some of the body work is not perfect, but then again, it is very straight, and has been over 20-30 years since it was restored, so it has aged extremely well. The body is original steel, the cowl is original, and you can see how clean it is in side the cab. The front fenders are in very nice condition, original steel, no major repairs inside, or cracks, actually really nice fenders. The hood is in nice shape as well. The grill surround, is in nice shape as well. The splash aprons and running boards are in excellent shape as well. The rear fenders are Fiberglass, they look decent, but I would have them repainted, the have aged some, but look good for a driver, occasional parade rig. The box is excellent shape, no major issues. The wood inside, is in very nice shape, and smooth, but it needs to be sanded down, and stained and cleared again, a weekend job at best. Overall, the exterior is nice for its age, and looks great for a very nice driver. One day you might want to have it repainted, but to me, I think just drive it and enjoy, maybe upgrading it a little at a time. I believe it has been apart before, so no reason to take it off the frame, because everything is very sound. The biggest issues in these trucks and early Chevrolets in general, is that the inner framing of the doors and the cab, were all wood, and that is one of the reasons that these trucks are rare today, because of the wood going bad. The wood on this truck, is in excellent shape, there is no sign of any issues, everything is really solid. Either it is original wood, or it has been redone. If it was redone, they did it all correctly, used the correct nails and general build from the era. Look at the photos over and over, and a lot of your questions will be answered, if you want to come and look at it before you bid or send someone out you can sure do that as well. The engine stamping number is K3I8525I, as my research went, found out that K is fro 1932, and 3I8525I, is the production number of the engine. The Actual block casting number is 836573, which is a 1932 Stovebolt 194. So I think at best, I have the correct year of engine in it, and transmission looks right as well. It could be the original engine, but really hard to know for sure, I was told it was original to the truck though. The engine just purrs like a kitten, sounds, great, 194.5 Inline 6, factory 53hp, this is a true Truck engine, as I mentioned before 1932 was a pinnacle year for Chevrolet's new truck engine. It idles very nicely, it does not smoke, no major oils leaks, actually a clean running rig. The Starter has just been rebuilt. It is running an Alternator, I still have the Generator, which I will include with the truck. Not sure why the switched it over, but a lot of people do this these days, if you want to reverse it you could, very easy. The truck runs cool, radiator seems to be in good shape, no leaks. The transmission is in great shape 3spd manual, I believe that 1932 also was the first year of the "Silent Syncro Mesh" transmission. I am not sure if the trucks and cars got the same transmission, but it does shift very smoothly, clutch feels great. The brakes are mechanical, all stock, the truck also has a very good stance, no leaning. The brakes seem to work good as well. The tires were bought last year from Lucas tire, in very good shape, obviously no cracking or issues, also has new tubes. The exterior lights all work, gauges are working inside, the gas gauge is not working currently. Under the dash it all looks clean, I can also tell that a new wiring harness has been installed at somepoint, because the wires have been numbered like I have seen from other kits. The speedometer works, but it is no accurate by anymeans, odometer, not sure if it is working, honestly forgot got to look as I was writing, it reads 09079, obviously has rolled over at least once. The interior is very clean, seat looks good, no rips or tears, cushion and springs in good shape. Newer carpet in it, clean. The headliner and side boards are all in good shape. All the glass looks good, no cracks, door glass rolls up nicely. Overall the interior is nice and clean, obviously restored at some point, but has been up since then. The horn is not working, actually there is not even a horn on it, so how can it work. Floor boards, and inside the cowl look in great condition. Under the seat is the gas tank, everything looks in order. The undercarriage is in very nice shape. The frame has no issues, no rust or strange repairs that I can see. The exhaust looks to be in good condition. The rear bumper has been added, I don't think these trucks came with one, but I actually don't mind it so I think it should stay. Underneath, you can see the rearend, transmission, and engine have a little oil residue and sludge, nothing alarming to me, no oil is really hitting the ground, I think it is pretty typical looking for a vehicle of this age.
