Gentlemen’s Urban Assault VehicleTough Luxury and most likely the coolest Grand Cherokee on the planet The mission was to take the already exceptional and beautiful Jeep Grand Cherokee (JGC) and make it better. I had seen many JGC’s with 20”-24” rims, low profile tires, some paint work and decorative chrome. Having just finished a super off road Wrangler I figured it was time to create a tough JGC. Known as much for its luxury appointments as its off road prowess it made sense to amplify both with a Ralph Lauren meets GI Joe mentality. I started with 2013 JGC Overland in what I believe is one of the best interior exterior combinations ever made, Brilliant Black over Saddle with wood accents. This is important to note as the beautiful rich Saddle interior is not available in the 2014. It is also important to note that this combination came with either a tan or black leather covered dash. The tan doesn’t work like the black with tan stitching to keep things feeling warm and rich, like a Havana cigar shop. Getting from a highly capable SUV to Sophisticated Brawler You start by giving it an aggressive stance enabled by a 1.75 inch leveling kit, Goodyear MTR with Kevlar tires on 18 inch offset Sport Edition F10 wheels. The Overland’s adjustable ride height allows you to maximize the JGC’s performance on road and gives you all the clearance you need off. Next you give the bullet proof 5.7L V8 Hemi a little throaty growl, not a lot, you don’t want it to be noticeable while cruising in luxury. This is accomplished by adding a world renowned Borla stainless steel dual cat-back exhaust system. Then you need to fine tune the look by adding some bling here and taking it away there. Chrome tow hooks and wire mesh grill insert, removal of emblems and chrome door guards, painting of chrome door mirrors, fog light inserts and tailgate trim help. Tinting of the fog, tail and marker lights as well as front windows makes sure that the right features catch your attention. Painted Bushwacker Fender Flares with chrome accent bolts finish it off. Now you want to bring a little utility and protection to the game. Let’s start with a Smitty Bilt XRC8 Synthetic Rope 8,000lb winch integrated and hidden in the front bumper with a low profile aluminum fairlead to keep it clean and light. Add illuminated Jeep logo front entry and protective stainless steel door sill guards. While you have a backup camera nothing gives you confidence like a solid bumper guard. Strap down your snow board or extra travel gear on the Mopar roof rack. Then throw in world famous WeatherTech mud mats and heavy duty cargo liner and your ready for whatever mother nature throws at you!Only a year old with 7,500 miles a $65,000 replacement cost and one of the richest interior combinations ever offered and no longer available.
