The fit, finish and quality of this car is extraordinary, and represents the foundation on which Mercedes-Benz built its legendary reputation. This remarkable W126 chassis Mercedes S-class is fitted with the renowned OM617 straight-five turbo diesel engine, considered to be “indestructible” and one of the most reliable engines ever produced. Additionally, this car comes with the following features: 4-speed Automatic Transmission, Four Wheel Disc Brakes, Automatic Climate Control with Air Conditioning, Cruise Control, Leather, Power Seats, Power Sliding Sunroof, Power Mirror, Power Steering, Power Door Locks, Power Windows, and Aluminum Wheels. This car has always been meticulously maintained. When behind the wheel this is immediately apparent. The diesel engine is incredibly smooth, efficient, and quiet, with the turbo spooling exactly as it should. The 4-speed automatic transmission shifts crisply into each gear. When applied, the brakes provide even and firm stopping power to all four wheels. The suspension is tight and keeps the car extremely well-planted and stable. All of the tires are nearly new and were recently rotated and balanced. The car is fresh from a recent comprehensive service including a fresh oil change, new front and rear brake pads, rotors, and sensors, and new glow plugs. This 300SD starts at the turn of the key, even in very cold weather. There is an electric oil pan heater that was recently professionally fitted, but even during this very cold winter, I haven’t yet needed to use it. I took many pictures of the outside and inside of the car, which are included below. These are current and completely unedited pictures that should be used to confirm the car’s very clean condition. Additionally, I have included two short videos, which I encourage you to watch. The body is in very good condition, showing absolutely no rust anywhere, including underneath the car. The brilliant metallic silver paint is fresh and looks amazing. The inside is inviting, with no diesel odors, and has never been subjected to cigarette smoke. The only problems that I can find are a few cracks in the dash, a couple of pieces of wood trim that are cracked/missing, a small tear in the left bolster of the driver’s seat, missing buttons on the seat switches (the seat motors work), power antenna (motor works well, but the antenna needs to be manually pushed down towards the end), a stuck passenger-side window switch, rear windows that work intermittently, and a loose hood-release handle. Aside from this, everything else on the car functions exactly as it should including the power door locks (no vacuum leaks), power passenger-side mirror, power sunroof, front and rear defroster, automatic climate control, cruise control, windshield wipers and washer, and all of the lights. Overall, this is an excellent example of the incredibly robust Mercedes 300SD Turbodiesel! This car can literally be driven anywhere, right now, with absolutely no concern.
