Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This rare, matching numbers, low mileage 1979 Triumph Bonneville Special T140D is a one year only bike and has been restored to as new as a possible. The bonneville had been in one family since new. When the older brother quit ridding the bike it went into the mother’s barn and sat there until the youngest brother, a Jet mechanic, decided to restore it. When he finished the restoration his wife (and 3 youngsters) decided dad didn’t need to ride a motorcycle so it was sold to me. It has less than a hundred miles since the restoration. I have another customized 1978 Bonneville that I ride (see last picture) and have decided to sell this one. The Bonneville has been restored to such a high standard that I’m sure I’ll miss some of the work done during the restoration. The frame, swing arm and sub frame are powder coated black. All the chrome to include fenders, supports, headlight and other associated parts have been re-chromed to show standards. The gas tank has show quality paint and painted pin stripes. The front and rear brake master cylinders are stainless and new, all brake lines are new period replacements. The calipers have been rebuilt with new brake pads. The Lester wheels have been polished and painted. The seat is original and in excellent condition with no scuffs, holes, rips or tears. The tires are new Dunlops K81’s in the correct sizes. All cables are new as well as rubber components. All lights and gauges work as they should. The Bonneville has always started very easily and runs and idles as it should. Transmission shifts better than any of the many Triumphs I’ve owned. The motor and transmission are in excellent original condition and due to the low mileage did not need much attention other than a new head gasket when the head was removed to insure everything was in order, the carbs were also rebuilt with new gaskets. If you have ever restored a vintage motorcycle you can understand the cost related to this restoration, let alone how rare it is to find a good low mileage candidate. My collection has grown to the point where I spend more time maintaining the bikes than riding them so I will be painfully selling a few of them. The Bonneville is sold with a clear Georgia title. The Bonneville is listed locally so the auction could end early. If you have any questions please email or call 678-401-2346 before bidding.
