Vehicle Detail

This is SlamCharger, a highly, tastefully modified 68 Charger built by Muscle Rod Shop. This car belongs to the owner of the shop and is regrettably being sold to raise capital for another project (Not another Charger). This car has been featured in domestic and foreign publications and has been a bit of a sensation on the net. Starting as a hulk of a non-RT 383 car, Muscle Rod Shop performed their usual highly detailed restoration of the body, which in this case includes many modifications which are part of their 'Muscle Rod' program. These modifications include a widened body, extended rockers, channeled suspension, raised, flared wheel arches, enlarged wheel houses, and a one-off all-steel hand fabricated hood with viper-style extractors. Channeling the suspension pushes the factory front (torsion bar) and rear (leaf spring) suspension up into the body, allowing the car to sit low while providing adequate ground clearance and natural ride characteristics and improving handling. Widening the body, a modification that starts in this case at the front of the door and extends to the rear bumper, allows the big tires to fit without narrowing the frame or 'mini-tubbing' the car, and gives SlamCharger its gorgeous exotic look. Mechanically, SlamCharger has a beefed up 383 which is not the original block. It has aluminum heads, a hot cam, and he usual intake, headers, etc. The transmission is a stock rebuilt A833 4-speed equipped with a console pistol grip. The rear axle is an 8 3/4 sure grip with 3:55 gears. For those of you who saw this car in Popular Hot Rodding and American Muscle, some of these parts were added or upgraded after the articles. These upgrades include the heads and cam, as well as an upgrade to the braking system. The Bear brakes are now 6P's with 14" rotors, and the master cylinder/booster was upgraded to a HydraTech show version booster system which greatly enhances the car's stopping power. Also upgraded was a swap to a more effective electric fan module and a very high quality fan controller. Electric headlight door actuators and LED front turn signals were other upgrades. The car has Vintage Air Gen IV cooling, and a modern, relatively simple stereo system, and an Ididit push-button start system. Wheels are Centerlines: 8x18 in the front and custom-widened 20x11 in the back with 245/40 and 315/35 Nitto Invo tires. Trim-wise most everything is fresh and new inluding the tail light assemblies and bumpers. New console plates, dash plates, instruments or faces, and of course the rest of the interior. The carpet could use some better, tighter fitment in the corners. The trunk is not upholstered. The original tic-toc-tach is there, the tach works but the clock does not. Far and away, SlamCharger's best features are the stance, color, details and the hard-hitting impression you get when first you see it. The green is odd, and simply beautiful. The House of Kolor pearl base coat mix has a way of changing in varyling light conditions from a bright green to a dark, olive-gold hue. The stripes on the hood and rear have a crackled texture set deep into the pearl black, and pinstripes outlining the black vary in color from gold to deep maroon. And then there's everyone's favorite detail, the skull set into the peak of the hand formed hood. I guarantee this one small feature is the most photographed item at any car show SlamCharger attends. This car will take top awards at any show. However, it has never traveled out of the San Antonio area since completion (very low miles), so has never been to any of the national shows. Would you like to be the one that takes it there? Were I to keep it, I would upgrade to a tilt column with a new stering wheel (it currently retains the original wheel with a somewhat worn appearance), and I'd replace the exhaust system with a more mellow sounding system. Cutouts, for pulling into car shows with extra fanfare, would be nice. If there's more money left, I'd upgrade to a 6-speed and fuel injection, and the car would be completely perfect. Usual rules apply, should you end up with a successful bid. I'd need confirmation from you as soon as possible, I'd think 48 hours should do. We'd need to complete the transaction within 5 days. I'll need payment in a form that can be completely verified and deposited before I'll turn loose of the car or its title. The car is sold as-is with no warranty, and shipping of the vehicle is up to the buyer. I can hold the vehicle for a few days, and can work with your transportation company, however, once your payment clears and the title is handed over, I will no longer be responsible for the vehicle... please insure it asap.
