Vehicle Detail

2002 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport with 173,983 miles. 4EAT (automatic) transmission, EJ25 SOHC engine. If you are interested please read everything below. If you still have questions please ask. I am selling the car because the front differential is slowly failing, and I do not have the money to pay someone to replace it, or the time/garage to do it myself. I’ll get the bad out of the way first… Mechanical 1. The front differential is on its way out. It makes noises intermittently, sometimes under braking or when I make hard turns. There is a visible film of gear oil leaking around the seals(not enough of a leak to show on dipstick), and there is excessive play in all directions when I grab the axles where they attach to the diff stubs. The vehicle is still drivable, but I cannot make any guarantees for how much longer. 2. The head gaskets are weeping oil externally at the rear of the heads. This is a common problem on these engines. The engine does not lose much oil; this is not a dripping leak. The head gaskets were replaced in November of 2009 at 110,380 after I found a small amount of oil in the coolant; the car never ran hot, and has never overheated. It is safe to say that this engine will make it to at least 250,000 before the head gaskets should be replaced again. There is a trace amount of oil in the coolant overflow tank, but I have two tests from Blackstone Labs showing that there is no coolant in the oil. The car runs normally, and has never had any cooling/overheating issues. 3. The car will occasionally throw a P0420 code, and I just clear it with an OBD-II reader. I have not had this problem since I switched from Sunoco to Shell gasoline. All of the O2 sensors and cats are original and have not been replaced. Exterior 1. The factory fog lights were removed and sold because I intended to replace them with some PIAA 510 driving lights. All of the wiring, connectors, and the switch on the dash are still there. 2. The body has its fair share of rock chips, door dings, and bumper scrapes, just like any other used car in the DC area. There is a small spot of surface rust on the rear hatch, but the rest of the body is rust free. The car has never been in an accident. 3. Headlights are showing their age. I have polished them many times using various headlight restoration kits, but this can only do so much. Interior 1. The gauge cluster has a few bulbs that are burnt out, auto shifter console light is burnt out, and the clock doesn’t work. Modifications Rear hatch de-badged, AWD decals removed from windows, Outback Sport decals removed from doors. Grille is from a 2003 WRX, rear hatch with spoiler from 2002 WRX. Impreza black plastic bumper protector removed and replaced with Duplicolor spray-on bedliner; proper prep work was done, so it is still holding strong after five years. GrimmSpeed brake master cylinder brace, PIAA sport horns, PIAA silicone wiper blades, Fumoto quick drain oil valve. The head unit is from a 2004 Forester XT, and matches the silver trim perfectly. The wheels are from a 2002 Impreza 2.5i, tires are Bridgestone Potenza take-offs from a 2005 WRX with about 35,000 to 40,000 miles. One tire had a small nail in it, professionally plugged at a tire shop. Tires have some uneven tread wear and should be replaced at some point in 2014. The Good Clean Maryland title in my name, no liens. I purchased the car when I lived in Portland, Oregon, and the first owner lived in Oregon and California. The car has only seen road salt for the past three winters, and as a result has only minor surface rust on the exhaust. I run the car through touch-free car washes frequently in the winter to remove any salt. I have always performed regular oil changes using Valvoline 5W30 MaxLife; first at 3,000 mile intervals, then at 5,000 mile intervals when Blackstone Labs told me I should increase mileage between changes. I have the results from two recent tests available from Blackstone; send me an email if you would like to see them. The interior of the car is in excellent condition considering it is twelve years old; no odors or excessive wear. A/C is ice cold, heat is hot, Subaru all-weather floor mats, full size spare mounted on 2002 WRX wheel, and two original keys and remotes. I have kept extensive service records since I purchased the car at 88,402 miles in 2007. The vehicle was serviced at Wentworth Subaru and Superior Import Repair in Oregon, and Herb Gordon Subaru and Andrewtech once I moved to Maryland. I have a notebook that contains the entire service history for the car since I have owned it, and I have kept all of the receipts for parts and service. I am willing to answer any and all questions about the car’s history if you can think of something that I have not already answered here. If you want to pay for it, I will go with you to have the car undergo a pre-purchase inspection at any reputable Subaru shop or dealership within a 30 mile radius of College Park, MD. This would include Andrewtech, Herb Gordon, Don Beyer, Annapolis Subaru, etc. On Jan-21-14 at 16:23:27 PST, seller added the following information:If you are currently bidding on this auction and have zero feedback, send me a message to let me know you are a serious bidder.
