Vehicle Detail

2004 Toyota Tundra SR5 Crew Cab Short Bed FOR PARTS Synopsis: It was bought in 2006 by my dad who used it primarily for driving around town and the occasional trip to Florida or New York State. It was well maintained and didn't have any issues with the engine or otherwise during his use of it. He only put about 20,000 miles on it over the course of 8 years. It has miles on it now. This past August he was on 95 S. outside of Richmond and pulled around a bend in the fast lane to see road work being done in that lane. He stopped as he was unable to switch lanes. The guy coming around the turn behind him didn't see the work signs or his truck and nailed the back of it. The insurance company stupidly deemed it Non-Repairable and unfortunately he can't get a valid title in Virginia. Estimates for full on repair ranged from $ 5,000 to straighten the frame and drop a new bed on to $11,000 to drop the cab and all usable components onto a frame with a clean VIN. There is an abundance of usable parts here. Well over $25,000 in parts if you were to part it out. Heck maybe you can take it to Mexico or Canada and get it fixed up and on the road for cheap. The possibilities are there. Oddly, this truck is drivable and could easily be driven with an admittedly significant but straight forward repair. Cab Exterior The cab is in very good shape, there are minor blemishes to the bumper and the fenders, from the typical use of being on the highway. The fitment for all the doors and hood is good. There is no damage to the cab from the impact. Cab Interior The inside of the cab is also in very good condition there are no real issues to speak of. It is very clean with minor stains on the carpet from typical use. The floor mats are not included but they were kept in the vehicle while it was in use. All the windows work and the rear window rolls down as well. Door panels are clean and in good condition. The seat are in good condition. Engine The engine runs strong and sounds great. It has an after market high performance AEM Power Thrust intake. The was paired with a performance dual exhaust and mufflers. The exhaust has rusted out a little bit and the pipes were deformed from the impact. But they could be patched and re-hung. The engine is relatively clean with minor corrosion at the typical bolts and fittings you would find in a vehicle almost ten years old. The engine is in good working order. It could use a tune up, but it's really good to go. Frame The frame under the cab is straight and regular. Frame buckling begins just behind the cab and there is considerable crumpling on both rails but more so on the passenger side. The frame could be pulled straight and re-enforced. Undercarriage The drive shaft is fine but has been tilted up to meet the rear differential. The rear axle and rear brakes are all fine and could be re-used or parted out. The struts look like they are in good condition also. The rear leaf springs have suffered damage. The spring clamp has shifted on the driver side and the leafs are not held totally together on both sides. Please take a look at the pictures for a better idea. The gas tank and lines are all fine. If any thing is deformed it should be usable if it is gently bent back into shape when it is reused. There are no crimps to any of the lines or the fill to the tank. Tank monitor and fuel pump both work as they should. It comes with little add ons and extra that will be useful if you decide to replace the bed. -bolts for the bed to frame -rear fender extenders, usable but not great shape -roll up bed liner -Tonneau bed cover, not in great shape but it is usable, wasn't on the truck at the time of the accident. -side and tailgate edge guards -driver side rear taillight -rods and handle for the tailgate This truck is really in good shape considering. It did exactly what it was supposed to do in an accident. It crumpled at the right places and this has preserved the majority of the working parts of the truck. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. I've priced this truck relative to the salvage value of the parts and the possibility that it could easily be put back on the road.
