Vehicle Detail

When I got this vehicle, it was an FJ 40 that some previous owner tried to make into an FJ 45 shortbed by grafting the back end of another cruiser frame onto the original to lengthen it, cutting the body down into a truck cab, & adding a homemade bed. The engine & transmission had been replaced by something no one was quite able to identify. The odometer shows 63, 226 miles, but it doesn't go any higher than 99,999, & I don't know if it's been around that bend or not... What you see now was inspired by military Command Cars from World War Two like the Dodge WC 56, & while not quite a frame off restoration, it comes close. A crate Chevy 350 & new, automatic transmission replaced what I found in it, & power steering was added. The body was extended w/ another donor Cruiser body, though not a matching year. Also, note that height was added to the body to match the doors. The rear door has been altered slightly to match the curve of the rear tire cutout. The rear ambulance doors are custom made as well. The original 4 wheel drive is intact, although I've never tried it out, & am not knowledgeable about it. The wheels are from Truspoke, & mount 6.50-16 tires. There is no roll cage. The top was custom made to maintain the military look, & the windows replaced with removable side curtains. The rear bench seat came from an FJ 55 & it folds down to create more cargo space. The floor and running boards are coated with Rhino skin. The entire truck was painted several years ago, & while it was a good job, it's now showing some minor blemishes (the worst on a side vent, where some untreated rust has raised the paint) and wear. The windshield wipers don't work (it never rains in L.A.!). I tried to replace the original motor, but was told by Spector that NOS wiper motors can't be found. He thought it would respond to cleaning, as they never really break. I didn't put the heater in (again, unnecessary in L.A.) because it takes up footspace, but I will include it for the lucky bidder. This vehicle is being sold as-is, where-is, with no warranty, expressed, written, or implied. The seller shall not be responsible for the correct description, genuineness, or defects herein, & makes no warranty in connection therewith. No allowance or set aside will be made on account of any incorrectness, imperfections, defect, or damage. I've tried to describe the vehicle warts & all, & feel free to ask questions, or for more pictures. Winning bidder must supply $1000 deposit within 24 hours, balance to be paid by cashier's check or cash within 7 days from end of auction. Buyer assumes all shipping costs.
