Vehicle Detail

1968 Pontiac Firebird 400 HO Convertible 32 Factory OptionsSpecial Paint Car PINK MISTSpecial Ordered for "Nancy Sinatra" By John DeloreanHeavily DocumentedDEALER INSTALLED RAM AIR (you couldn't get Ram Air with A/C) Car was sent for final prep work in Georgia, final delivery Epsteen Pontiac in Skokie, IL...spent several years in Beverly Hills, CA, and then went to Germany for many years (have german news article featuring the car) then back to the States where it changed hands a few times (extensive title search) and I bought it to restore. Let me first off start by saying, I do NOT need to sell this car. I don't need the money. I just work on it less and less lately, due to a back injury. So I thought I'd entertain the notion of parting with it. This is the highest option 68 Firebird 400 HO Convertible available...it has EVERY option except a rally cluster and power seats. This car was a nice #3 driver when I bought it some years ago. Since then, the car has been frame off restored. Although the car still needs paint, trim reinstalled, , all the hard work is done. The car originally had parchment interior, someone dyed it black years ago. I have brand new parchment interior for the car, it just needs to be installed. 1968 Pontiac Firebird 400 HO ConvertiblePower SteeringPower Brakes Air ConditioningFront disc brakes (4 piston)Rally WheelsHood Mounted TachometerTilt WheelPower WindowsPower TopExhaust ExtensionsSpace Saver Spare (never hit the ground)Sports Wood WheelCustom (deluxe) interiorRemote side mirrorFold Down rear seatAM/FM radioRear mounted antennaRadial white lines (first year)Safety-Track (posi) rear end.Th-400 Automatic transSoft Ray Glass (tinted)Rally StripeTrunk lightFloor MatsCenter ConsoleConsole Clock Im forgetting a bunch, I gotta review the PHS. I have over 60,000 in parts in this car. This car is very special... The car is a special paint car, with parchment interior and a white top. All glass is mint original (bird etched glass) except windshield is a replacement Car was taken down to the tub and everything was rebuilt. The car is a rust and damage free car. The only rust ever on the car was pin holes in the drain areas of the rear floor pans, the underside was media blasted, new pans ever so carefully butt welded in place...(you wouldn't know if I didn't tell you.) The rest of the sheet metal on the car is perfect and rust and bondo free. Engine is the original YW Code 400 HO engine, (engine unit # and VIN on block), #16 heads, long branch manifolds, original 264 carb, original 170 distributor. All items date code correct to the car within 2 weeks. (03D build date on car) Completely rebuilt, standard bore. (Engine has been run on dyno) THIS IS THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION THE CAR WAS BORN WITH!Transmission is the original PY Code TH-400 with its original tag in place and VIN stamped on the drivers side of the pan rail. (Completely rebuilt)Rear End is the original ZB code 2.56 Posi rear, completely rebuilt. Rear suspension and brakes completely rebuilt, Eaton leafs, new bushings, spiral shocks, all new rubber bumpers. Front suspension is all 100% new. A/C gone through, new evaporator, POA valve, Expansion valve, compressor, O rings, ect. All brake and fuel lines replaced, all 100% correct lines, fittings, clamps, new fuel tank and sender, correct filler neck tube with Tower clamps, GM markings on it. rear brakes completely rebuilt, NOS brake drums. All new Emergency brake setup. U joints replaced. New Booster, master distribution valve, hold off valve, (moraine casting booster) correct PN on master. Steering box rebuilt, new motor mounts, trans mount. Subframe Bushings. Date coded Packard plug wires, ect. All A/C lines are the new "barrier" hose for use with R134A. All wiring is brand new and complete. Spring Ring battery cables. Wiring Harnesses are all new. Put a exhaust on it and turn the key. EVERY BOLT IS TECHNICALLY CORRECT AND REPLATED ON THE CAR. Parts I have but are not installed: NOS or high quality reproductions: Every emblem, every piece of trim, ie windshield trim, header mouldings, remote mirror, every piece of weatherstripping for the car. white top, tack strips, top pads. Top frame was rebuilt, blasted and fitted with new hardware. Visors...rear view mirror, Rally II trim rings and center caps. Original front and rear bumpers, triple chrome plated ($1,700)... restored hood tachometer, rebuilt original AM/FM radio. Space saver spare, jack, inflator bottIe could go on and onWhat you'll need to buy to finish this car CORRECTLY: Exhaust! Tires, Obviously someone to paint it, $3-4000 as the car is dead straight and no body work needed. You'll need front and rear door panels, , front and rear upsholstery. ($1,000). Literally everything else for the car is here and brand new! So, for around $5,000 you'll have a #1 show car worth 100k. (not just my opinion, but some of the most revered Pontiac historians who have personally laid hands on the car) I just sold 2 nice original 68 STANDARD 400 convertibles (non HO cars) nice #3 original cars for $45,000 each right here on ebay. I'm non negotiable on my price. I do not need to sell it. I may move slightly off my Buy it Now Price, but only to cover shipping or something of that nature. Brakes are done, suspension done, fuel system plumbed, cooling system done...put a exhaust on it, some gas in the tank and you can drive it. These pictures show various stages of the restoration. My Cell # is 312 622 7533 When I purchased this vehicle a few years ago, it was a nice running and driving #'s matching 400 HO Convertible. The original AM/FM radio was missing, air cleaner and carb and distributor were wrong, the hood tachometer was missing, the grills were non-400 specific. I spent $60,000 on this car in parts to make it what it is today. There is actually a video of it driving before it was restored. A $1,000 here or there is not going to make or break me. I have had about 5 parties that have shown genuine, solid interest in the car. Accordingly, I have lowered my Buy It Now price and the first person to click it owns this Firebird. I have had many requests to finish this car for X amount of dollars due to the high build quality of the vehicle. However, I would finish the car myself if I were physically capable, however I am not. GOOD LUCK TO THE NEW OWNER
