Vehicle Detail

Here is a car that I have been searching for a long time, I always wanted a 68 javelin for the clean lines, the racing pedigree, the success of this Javelin model in NHRA Drag racing and SCCA Trans Am series and finally the lightness of it (2700 pounds) as a pony car it's very light. I personally think the '68 Javelin is one of the best looking pony car ever made, and yes I've owned lots of '70s Corvette , Camaro, Mustang,Challengers... etc. When I found this car I had big plans for it, a V8 swap, and total restoration, maybe a trans am racer, but kept postponing the project since I have too many cars ,but also because yes it has some patina but also everything works on it, and for a 1968 car its in VERY GOOD original shape. So I felt a bit bad about butchering such a nice little runner in great driver and orginal condition. Understand that by no means this is a show car, but its 100% Complete and VERY SOLID. When I say complete I say the ORIGINAL RADIO is included in the deal, the ORIGINAL SPARE TIRE AND TOOLS and the 4 Original 14" steel wheels, and lug nuts. This car is not a "project" like alot of stuff on Ebay is, You can drive this car while you update it, its is NOT A BASKET CASE! I am located in Montreal , this is 45 minutes from the United States border , the car still has Rhode Island Plates and Titles. FOR AMERICAN BUYERS: PLEASE NOTE THAT I CAN DELIVER THE CAR TO THE US : NY 12919 AT NO CHARGES. The engine is the legendary bulletproof Straight six from AMC , yeah the same engine layout and design was used until 2006 in the Jeeps, if you are not coonvinced you can take a 2006 4.0L jeep head and bolt it on my 1968 232 ci engine , its bolt on, and its actually a good performance upgrade too. The transmission is a torque command 3 speed autoamatic column shift, Its shifts smooth and no slippage at all. This Javelin comes with only two parts that are not original, lets start with a new CD MP3 radio Head unit (Original radio still included), and 4 almost new 15" American Racing Torq Thrust D Wheels, wrapped with nice low mileage BF Goodrich Radial T/A Tires. ( The 4 original 14" steel wheels and tires are included in the deal too). According to its previous owner , he got it repainted in 1986 , they changed the color from the original Hialeah Yellow (Light Yellow) to Arctic white , its a low budget paintjob , its driver quality and has some patina to it but held up pretty good, let alone its almost a 28 years old paint job! My Plans were to go back to the Original Yellow, just beause its cool to have a originally yellow pony car and the pale color looks great with the Vinyl top the car has. Speaking of the Vinyl top, its old and dry , has some small wrinkles in one corner , but does not look bad at all, again its a driver. The interior is all original, there is NOT A SINGLE RIP OR CRACK in the seats , the heater, fan , wipers, lights everything works, the dash light has that cool "indiglo" color , and the is only a very slight bulge on the top of the dahs pad near one vent but its beary noticeable, and they all do that. the carpet is original but shows its age (discolored from the sun over the years in the center area), The cleanliness and simplicity of this interior is just fantastic, it feels roomier than any pony car I ever sat in, its indeed VERY ROOMY. A real time capsule! The car starts right up , when cold there is a small exhaust leak at the front of the exhaust manifold, the engine revs smooth and and there are ABSOLUTELY NO WEIRD NOISES coming for the engine, transmission or rear end, That thing runs Smooth , The most impressive is the power steering , yeah its very assisted but soo smooth this car glides on the road. Ok is a Straight Six 232 cubic inches and its not fast , but as it is the car is fine for cruising around. The accelerator pump will need replacement , when you accelerate under load it wants to stall, so you have to feather the throttle a bit on initial take off, but once youre moving its not an issue, to replace that accelerator pump its like an hour of your time and order a pump for 4$ online, I have too many other cars in my collection to maintain and run so this one, since I drive it very seldom it was the least of my problems. I took the car for a 3 hours drive recently and it feels safe, very stable, drives straight as an arrow and stops decently , Im saying decently here because you have to consider its a 4 manual drum system. A Front disc swap kit is about 140$. For the winning bidder can add for 100$ more a set of brand new tail light lenses (cost 290$) , very nice reproductions pieces. IF you want more power I have an complete and running '73 AMC 401 V8 that you can buy from me separately, as well as an Offenhauser V8 Dual port intake with Quadrajet Spreadbore design , i even have a rebuilt 800 cfm Quadrajet to go with the intake , Remeber the 401, the carb and the intake are all sold separately from this auction, but the buyer of this car gets first dibs on them. With a V8 these cars can be made very fast , they are very light , simple and even for vintage road racing it would be an awesome project. I will hate to see this 45 years old girl leaving my collection, its a great piece of Americana , was a great car with lots of cool innovations from the crazy engineers at American Motors . Please look at the pictures , what you see is what you get ALL the pictures have been taken recently, So bid with confidence you will be happy with this car ! NO RESERVE AUCTION , If this car does not sell here , I will keep it for myself and swap the 401 in it.PS: Another 68 Javelin with a 3 speed manual and a 290 just sold here this week on Ebay for 3000$ more than what Im asking!
